UMPHREY'S MCGEE IN CONCERT:
Chicago-based band Umphrey's McGee brings a unique prog rock twist to the traditional jam band format popularized by legends like Phish and the Grateful Dead. The band's signature "improg" sound -- a combination of improvisation and progressive rock elements -- makes for an eclectic live show characterized by improvised jamming, virtuosic musicianship, and constantly changing setlists. A tireless touring act known for their marathon sets and fearless creativity, Umphrey's Mcgee continue to groove fans both new and old every time they go on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Umphrey's McGee was formed by several Notre Dame students in 1997. After cutting their teeth performing covers of their idols Phish and the Grateful Dead at local venues, the band made their album debut in 1998 with the cheekily titled Greatest Hits. Vol. III. In 2001 they began experimenting with various improvisation techniques, eventually developing a method they dubbed the "Jimmy Stewart", named after the hotel ballroom in which they perfected the style. The technique made its debut at the band's shows in support of their 2002 sophomore album Local Band Does OK, which included an appearance at the inaugural Bonnaroo festival. By the late '00s the band was climbing the Billboard 200, and in 2014 their eighth studio album Similar Skin landed at No. 49 on the Billboard charts -- an impressive feat for the cult heroes. In 2014 Umphrey's McGee released the critically acclaimed album Similar Skin, their most ambitious effort to date and a perfect addition to their endlessly creative live shows.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"This is one of the absolute best bands touring today. The musicianship is simply astounding. Get familiar with their music and go see them."
"This is the tightest band in Rock and Roll and can change directions on a dime. Their music covers genres from Reggae to Rap to Metal all in top notch prog style. They do covers like no other band and the mash ups are out of this world. They bring the crowd out to capacity!" @ Observatory North Park
"UM truly are the rightful heirs to the improg throne once occupied by The Dead, Phish etc., The diversity and range of this band is beyond belief. If you are considering going to a UM show - don't hesitate further - just get some tickets and get there."

Great show. Amazing musicians. Umphrey's Mcgee is a great band. They have amazing musicianship and play many styles of music and sometimes within one song. They have a great light show and a great ambient environment. I do wish they would play wizard burial ground more often. Otherwise, the show was amazing and the musician ship is the greatest. Thank you.
I can't believe this band has been around 25 years & I just started seeing them. Great jam band. When they are in town I'm going for sure.
Outstanding! This was a Xmas gift from my nephew!
RATM, Pink Floyd and tons of originals. These guys are masters of the craft. I never miss them when they roll through LA
EveryUmphrey’s concert I have been to has been a blast! Their music is uplifting and fun. And if you like to rock, they always put some heavier songs in the mix. Love this band!! They put their fans first in every show.
Umphreys McGee is spectacular. The musicianship, composition and production after amazing, not to mention a light show that is second to none. Perfection!!! Please come back to LA sooner than later!
Had a great location looking down on the stage, maybe 20 feet away from Jake Cinninger. This allowed me to see his craftsmanship up close. This also allowed for me to see the interactions between the different band members coordinating the amazing transitions from song to song, jam to jam, or solo to solo. This is my 4th time seeing them, and they haven't ceased to amaze me.
I just saw Umphrey's McGee at a new venue, and it was a face-melting experience! The venue was great, and the band left it all out on the stage...as per usual!
This band is seriously underrated. Very talented musicians who bind together so tightly and weave a musical tapestry that it’s hard to believe they do this LIVE! Go see them!
