Bizarre Tricky performance
by Anonymous on 5/28/18Mezzanine - San FranciscoTricky is an artist and I understand that he has a strange vision for his art and that it should be appreciated. However, it kind of sucks to pay for a ticket to a show in which you can barely see the artist (because I guess a dark stage is interesting usage of lighting) and there presumably is a lot of bad luck with microphones. To be fair, a lot of his new material is trash, but it was unfortunate that the old tracks were reduced from powerful duets to just the nice blond lady singing a solo backed by familiar music. There was such a lack of vocals from Tricky it was almost like a cover band was on stage. I obviously don't have any insider information, so I don't know if the technical issues were all the venue's fault or because Tricky is notoriously difficult to work with. Either way, it was a disappointing effort overall.
