Being from the northeast, I had never even heard of the Subdudes until I was looking for an event to take some friends to in Southwest Florida, and this band fit the bill. We all loved this band! Sorry we hadn't heard of them years sooner! Great show!
My wife, a long-time Subdudes fan, was looking forward to the concert. She and I were both quite disappointed: 1. The venue, Southwest Florida Event Center, forces you to buy a really bad dinner. I rather pay a higher ticket price and come to the concert when it starts rather than an hour ahead to consume cafeteria-like, institutional food. 2. The venue sound system is terrible. It was impossible to discern the lyrics of the opening solo act. 3. The Subdudes, bless their hearts, are long past their prime.
Show at the Birchmere (DC) was amazing. With new and well-loved material, as well as the now-traditional 4 on the floor encore, the audience was singing along and engaged on every song. These guys are a national treasure. Bravo Subdudes!!
I really just went to the Birchmere to show my girlfriend the venue. I did very little research on the Subdudes. I listened to one song and said oh they sound a little folksy and a little jazzy and a little bluesywith a good rock sound, I think they’ll be decent. What we got instead was a completely interactive band. They were extremely fun and full of funny stories and at the end of the show came out and sang three or four songs Right smack in the middle of the crowd acoustic style. Yes indeed they’re an older bunch but it was absolutely amazing and I would see them again and again. Their music is fun it’s energetic and it’s got a lot of heart and soul… I’m generally picky when it comes to my music but they made me a fan!! Great job!
Such enjoyment, such inspiration, so primal ! I will see them anytime time possible They are pure Accapella of the heart!
With a smaller crowd, the Subdudes played a casual fun set that sounded real good. At the end, they came out into the center of the venue and with the crowd surrounding them, ended the night with Known To Touch Me and Sabita that were amazing.
Small crowd but great show. Why these guys haven’t made it bigger is beyond me. Great singing and playing, absolutely unique sound
Original stuff and they engage with the audience for the entire show. Harmonies are awesome,they use instruments in unique ways. Cannot really describe them, they cannot be put into a box because they are true artists!
I've loved the Subdudes for years -but even people who don't know the band will have a good time. The Subdudes play music that makes you feel good - a mix of rock, blues, and zydeco that is nostalgic and happy. A little wistful at times. I highly recommend.
