The Pretty Reckless is fronted by singer Taylor Momsen, who was a child actor and model, including notable credits in "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Gossip Girls." Momsen has always insisted that her first love was music, not acting, and, in 2009, Momsen shocked the world when she announced she would leave TV and film. The Pretty Reckless released their debut album, "Light Me Up" (No. 10; U.S. Alt Rock) in 2010 and quickly hit the road, becoming one of rock's busiest bands. The Pretty Reckless was part of the 2010 Warped Tour before headlining The Medicine and Light Me Up Tours respectively. The band is well regarded for its aggressive, live hard rock sound with a concert that often features Momsen singing while wearing dark outfits, heavy makeup and stripper boots. The band will continue to tour Europe extensively to promote their new release, "Going to Hell." Momsen is highly regarded for her talented voice on-stage yet isn't afraid to get dark with her lyrics. Tickets to the upcoming "Going To Hell" tour are expected to be a hot commodity as The Pretty Reckless have developed a strong and faithful following in Europe, despite being together for less than five years.
The band officially formed in 2009, but Momsen had been working on a rock project with Kato Khandwala, who would produce the group's debut album, since 2007. She has cited Joan Jett and Kurt Cobain as personal influences. "Light Me Up" was critically acclaimed and features the lead single, "Make Me Wanna Die" (No. 1 single; UK Rock), in addition to "My Medicine" and "Goin' Down." The band promoted the album heavily with nearly non-stop touring for four years, bringing venues like House of Blues (San Diego) to capacity, while working on a followup -- "Going to Hell." They are one of the more fiery bands when touring.
The Pretty Reckless put on an awesome show. Can't wait to see them again
This performance was at a small venue taking The Pretty Reckless back to what it was like when they got started…..Taylor Momsen’s words. The more intimate feeling of the smaller crowd in the smaller setting was fantastic! Their larger venue performances are great. This performance was SPECIAL! I loved it!!!
The pretty reckless really rock hard. Loud music and the whole band have such amazing stage presence.
I was at The Pretty Reckless show at the Bowery Ballroom on 12.11.22. To say that was my favorite concert of the year is an understatement. That venue is PERFECT for that kind of music, the staff was wonderful / helpful, and the band put on an amazing show. So much energy and authenticity from Taylor Momsen and her crew. Very thankful I was able to attend.
They crushed it. Its no wonder they are blowing up. Stage show was great. Sound production doesn’t get any better live
The band is just incredible. I would recommend anyone that hasn’t checked them out do so immediately. I like them so much I almost went back last night. I certainly will see them if they ever perform in NYC or Long Island
They just ROCK, and they just keep getting better !!!!! Witches Burn is incredible live !!!!! But every song sounds great !!!! Live they sound incredible … drums, bass, guitar, vocals …. Solid !!!!! Go see them live !!!!! They flat ROCK !!!!!
Please come to New Orleans You will sell out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I really loved the show, both bands were great the Pretty Reckless are amazing but the sound from the balcony was muddy and our seats were so tight it was tough to get comfortable.
Thank you Taylor for coming to SD, and we all hope you make it back very soon. Some make comments about the sound, I think your band and its sound is too big for HOBSD, but overall OK on my end. I do have a few comments about your set list. It seems like some songs just kind of blend together, and I would like to see it mixed up more. All great bands have a cover or two they play, and I think you should too. Look what Clapton and Cream did with Crossroads, and I would go back further than SoundGarden. I think Barracuda by Heart would be a great cover song, and also Devil Inside by INXS. I think Devil Inside would give the band a chance to really cut loose at the end of the song, and really get the crowd dancing. You know that you do not have to do everything ! And I have a great idea for the end. Doesn't every great band always have a song they usually play at the end because it is their best song, and I mean songs like Free Bird, American Girl, and I Can't Get No Satisfaction. I believe that song for you is Rock and Roll Heaven ! I truly believe it is your best song, and should be played EVERY night and always at the end. Think about this > with the couple of classic rock cover songs in the set, then tying it all together with Rock and Roll Heaven at the end would be genius. I mean in the song mentioning the Doors, Joplin, and Hendrix, relates back the the classic covers and takes the song/show to another level. Don't be afraid to play the older classic rock covers, it is not the older fans there who want to hear those songs, it is the younger fans, because they are at your rock show and want the experience of hearing those songs and reliving that era. I mean, for all of us at the very end, what show would be better than Waters/Gilmore/Mason/Wright and Barrett playing that 'Great Gig In The Skyy'
Great show. I will never ever again in my life miss The Pretty Reckless when they come through my town. These guys are not like their contemporaries. They actually have talent and a ton of it. Thanks Taylor for having such a great time on stage and giving that energy to your crowd. I loved every minute of it.
The Pretty Reckless absolutely nailed the performance at the House of Blues in San Diego. I have been following the band for a few years and have always wanted to see them live. I was so impressed with the performance, I will definitely go and see them again! Fantastic Show!
The Pretty Reckless put up a great performance. The vocals was just like listening to the album. The venue on the other hand could have done a better job at making sure their vip section were able to have a good view of the show seeing as how we spend good money for the vip update and buying food and drinks from them. So I say the band was awesome the venue not so much.
Great venue at The Wiltern and fabulous show. I wasn't sure what to expect, never having seen them live but I was not disappointed. Great show!!
This was my second time seeing them and it was just as awesome as the first time. I wish i could follow them on tour. They have been my favorite band since their debut album in 2010. Love them!
It’s a good looking venue. It has a great selection of drinks and they’re actually that that pricey. The audio was off though. I was near one the mini bars across the stage and it sounded muffled. I’ve been at the wiltern before and it sounded good. Maybe this time it was because where I was at? Other than that, it was a good experience.
The venue had AC and the music was loud. The Pretty Reckless was amazing. Taylor gave an amazing show
amazing stage presence, anyone who gets the opportunity to see tpr live has to take it
Hard Rock at it's finest Taylor Momsen is a power house singer with a crack hot 3 piece band. They put on a solid 90 minute show that proves they are on the road to be a stadium ready rock act.
The Pretty Reckless enthralled the packed crowd at The Wiltern. Taylor Momsen completely controlled the audience with her movements across the stage, and mesmerized everyone with her wonderful vocals. I’ve had the pleasure of watching The Pretty Reckless a few times. This performance was not just the best I’ve seen from them, it was the greatest I’ve ever seen!
