About

Judging from the band's current popularity, it's hard to believe that it took a bit of time for Ohio indie rock band The National to find their audience. They had moderate success with their self-titled, alt-country debut album in 2001, but after years of honing their Americana indie rock sound to perfection, they released the albums Alligator (2006) and Boxer (2007) and these works would catapult The National to international fame. Their melancholy, often politically-themed songs coincided with the social unrest surrounding the 2008 U.S. presidential election, amplifying their music's resonance with indie music fans worldwide. The following years produced the acclaimed indie favorite albums "High Violet" (2010), Trouble Will Find Me (2013), Sleep Well Beast (2017) and I Am Easy To Find (2019), with Sleep Well Beast winning the Grammy award for Best Alternative Music Album. Since then, demand for The National concert tickets remains high, as devotees regularly flock to see them perform songs like Fake Empire, Mistaken For Strangers, Mr. November, The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness, Slow Show, Bloodbuzz Ohio and Terrible Love LIVE in concert. Frontman Matt Berninger's moody baritone vocals pack an emotional punch while rhythmic guitar work and steady mid-tempo drum beats mesmerize audiences into a spiritual yet toe-tapping dream state. The National have also collaborated with a host of acclaimed artists including Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent and Richard Reed from Arcade fire, while critics have compared the National's music to Wilco, Leonard Cohen and The Antlers. The National's latest album First Two Pages of Frankenstein with its chart-topping single Tropic Morning News, arrives April 28, 2023 and includes features from Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, and Taylor Swift.

    Don’t Swallow The Cap

by Ashizzle on 11/25/23White Oak Music Hall - Pulse Power Stage on the Lawn - Houston

This was hands down, my favorite concert ever. The National is my favorite band and I flew from Tampa FL to Houston TX to see them (for the first time!) perform at White Oak Music Hall. They’re incredible love, had an abundant set list and moved me to tears. I’ll remember this show forever ❤️

    Excellent show and venue

by Nickster on 11/22/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

We really love Toyota Music Factory. Easy to get in and out and intimate enough to really feel close to the acts. The National was awesome. Really good live and played for over 2 hours. Good mix of new and older stuff.

    Incredible Concert - Best Ever

by MK on 11/22/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

The National totally killed it. Excellent show with incredible energy and soul. Best concert I have been to ever (and I have been to hundreds). I have been a fan of the National for many years, but this is the first live concert with them. So amazing - the set list, the quality of the sound and everything was perfectly balances. Loved every second of the show. Great venue.

    Turned it to 11

by MC on 11/22/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Even better live than I thought they were going to be. Turned all of their songs to 11, and put together a great set.

    Best.Band.Ever.

by Shmaze on 11/16/23Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre at SDSU - San Diego

What is there to say? The amphitheater at SDSU is always a great spot to catch bands. I've been lucky enough to see The National here twice and we were right up front in row 6, middle. My ONLY gripe is that the merch, bathrooms, drinks, and food are all at the top. So no matter where you're seated (and esp if you're close to the stage), you have to make a fairly steep trek up a bunch of steps. Good for me because I need the exercise but I was definitely out of breath by the time I got to the top.

    BEST LIVE PERFORMER

by sunshinehippie on 11/16/23Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

One of the BEST live performing bands! Even in a large arena The National provides an intimate experience and makes you feel special. Love that Matt Berninger goes into the crowd to share his music with his fans 💕

The National are in a Renaissance

by Ryman224 on 11/16/23Arizona Financial Theatre - Phoenix

I have a large bias with them being my favorite band of all time full disclosure. That being said, they are putting on the best shows they've ever done and consistently. The new albums are tight, intricate, and gorgeous. The sets are near 30 songs now with variations night over night providing a display of their new works along with a few deep cuts for the hyper dedicated followers. Now is the most accurate time to get into them and discover their vast discography.
