Playing golf at Petco? Amazing! The venue and the experience were both absolutely incredible. My only real complaint was the club selection at each hole was horrible. One hole had a 7 iron as the most lofted club...for like 140 yards. The clubs that Callaway provided are geared toward new golfers, both with the product line and the loft options. Hopefully they will include a better selection in the future.
This is my third time at Links at the Park. It's always an amazing experience. Except for the club selection. A lot of the holes had the incorrect club selection for both myself and others, especially the ladies who came along. And all the clubs are graphite/composite whatever, and there are no steel shaft clubs and I can't hit the graphite/composite clubs well at all. You would think there would be an entire bag of clubs of both men's women's and lefties at every hole, with every club to play golf with. There are men who are golfers who bring their female partners with them, and the women need to be able to have long irons and woods to reach some of the holes. Callaway needs to get a clue about this because each of the three years I have gladly participated and enjoyed this event, the club situation is stupid. Here's the deal. People should be allowed to bring in two of their own clubs, period. If I would have brought in my steel shaft 9 and 8 irons I would have put it in the circle each time. If it's only sponsor clubs, then get with the program and give us a variety of clubs that actually work for everyone, as I'm sure others are saying the same thing.
Great experience especially if you are a Padres fan. No golf experience needed. You hit from home plate and other seat sections on to the field. You walk some behind the scenes areas like Visiting Team area, player's parking, practice swing in the batting cage area. Plus you get some swag in the end that makes it worth it money wise. One bad thing is the drink prices are the usual high cost as at the games.
As in the past, this experience was great! Better than ever with more drink/bar spots and VERY well done themes at every hole, throughout! Our Caddy was adorable and fun!
This was a cool experience. Price was a bit steep. Was fun to enjoy behind the scenes of the park. Was all decked out in Halloween decorations. Ran about 30 minutes behind. Chipping greens were falling apart. Drift of the ball was severe with chipping locations. Would recommend using thicker better mats like a driving range has. Have more snacks along the way. For the premium experience a video or photo to purchase would also be cool. Will defiantly do this again.
Our 4some had a blast on each hole! The event was wonderfully planned out and organized. As a recommendation, as a season ticket holder, I would love to add the espresso martini drink, I forget the name or hole it was served on, but it was fantastic and I would be a welcomed addition to the Premier Club or another location.
The Links is such a unique and fun event. You get to see Petco Park in a totally different light. The staff is great and it’s awesome to hit balls from all over the park. Love it!
Very easy to use to participate in this event. The stadium staff was well prepared to confirm our participation.
Second time playing and my only “complaint” is that Callaway doesn’t supply clubs higher than a 7 iron. Please consider the age of their customers and plan accordingly. I’m a 70-year old female golfer who plays several times a week but I cannot hit a golf ball 135 yards with a 7 iron (even an adjusted distance.) :-)
Links years ago started out to be great, and has declined every year. The packages are mediocre and there’s minimal difference between each. The store should sell links at the park memorabilia. The holes/targets should be more fun/interactive.
