Everything I expected out of a legend of rock ‘n’ roll
I never expected Edgar Winter to play this well at his age. What an incredible performance. His band members were super talented as well. What an incredible concert.
Edgar Winter was in fine form but the venue stunk. Part of the 'Beatles on the Beach' festival the concert suffered from no security, VIP worthless as anyone was allowed in all areas, insufficient restrooms and food choices, etc.
EDGAR WINTER WAS 1ST CONCERT IN 1972 FOR ME. GOID MEMORIES. GREAT MUSIC. KEEP PLAYING ROCK n ROLL
Rick Derringer ws excellent and is a great guitarist. His voice was fine. Edgar Winter was great also. Both had great bands. Edgar has keyboard issues. I was in the 3rd row and did not hear much of the keys. His keyboard tech kept trying to fix and switch the cables but did not succeed. His voice is great.
Show was awesome and the venue was great!! Only disappointment was that there were no t-shirts or cds for sale, and there was no meet and greet after the show.
Bot ticket as i wanted to see Eric Burton not Edgar Winter. I should have been told that Eric Burton was not going to be there by email or phone. I drove a long way for nothing. If I would have known ahead of time I wouldn't have came. I have attended many events at THE SENECA ALLEGANY CASINO. I will never again attend or go to THE SENECA ALLEGANY CASINO again. Thank You Klem
Edgar Winter was supposed to be opening for Eric Burden and the Animals. Eric cancelled, so Edgar was the solo performance. He spent way too much dueling voice vs. guitar, alot of people walked out. I'm sure he was just trying to fill in time due to the lack of the Animals, but he has a alot of other songs that he has recorded and we wished he would have used those instead of the scat singing and dueling... If it weren't for wanting to hear Frankenstein, (which was not so great), we would have left.
Expected to see Edgar Winter with Eric Burdon and the Animals and was disappointed that the latter was ill and could not perform. Nevertheless, was looking forward to the Edgar Winter show, as I originally considered the pairing a great 1-2 punch. It's not that Edgar Winter's vocals weren't good quality or that his 3 piece backup band wasn't talented. (I had hoped that Rick Derringer would be part of the band, but hopes are often unfulfilled, as was the case here.) The problem with the show was that the band was so focused on showing how individually talented they were that the music performed suffered dramatically. I get that the musicians can play lots of technical licks, etc. but I wanted to here the band as a whole, (with the occasional solo), showcasing the music, not the person. Frankly, they became tedious after awhile. Even "Frankenstein" left may saying "enough already" as it was dragged out with technical "show-offs" to a degree beyond baring.
In all fairness, the Edgar Winter Band was charged with prime time when Eric Burdon and the Animals cancelled, due to illness. As the Animals was my main interest, I hesitated but decided to attend, as who doesn't enjoy the blues? the Band has some amazing guitar and drum talent, but it just got too repetitious. Not enough songs, too much solos. A LONG hour and a half. Would have been a great opening act.
