About

The Cult on Tour

The Cult, a shape-shifting rock band, has hardly sat still since their mid-'80s conception. They were born out of England's post-punk scene, first emerging as a heavy metal revivalist band with their debut album Dreamtime in 1984. The collection of shimmering guitars, howling vocals, and neo-psychedelic sounds introduced the dawn of a new musical era as the band transitioned away from the gothic rock genre leaning in the direction of a hard rock act. Dreamtime reached the top of the charts in the UK and served as a prologue for the trilogy The Cult would produce as the '80s went on. By the time Love dropped in the summer of 1985, the fresh ensemble had built a dedicated native following through the release of the teaser single "She Sells Sanctuary." Love became the No. 4 album in the UK, but The Cult achieved international, mainstream success after recording Electric in New York in 1987. Resonant of strident U.S. arena rock, the album picked up on the popular three-chord crunch, hard-hitting kick drum, heroic guitar solos with endless rifts, and passionate vocals backed by sing-along choruses. It was a huge success and sold over one million copies worldwide -- only to be topped by their 1988 magnum opus, Sonic Temple, which featured their top-charting song "Fire Woman." The British band would go on to release two more studio albums by the turn of the century (Ceremony, 1991; The Cult, 1994) and another four over the next two decades (Beyond Good and Evil, 2001; Born into This, 2007; Choice of Weapon, 2012; Hidden City, 2016), plus a total of 41 singles throughout their career. In 2022, fans have the chance to see The Cult on tour across three different countries as they perform the great alt-rock ballads that turned them into an iconic household name.

The Cult in Concert

An ever-evolving ensemble, The Cult has witnessed several changes to its name, lineup, and musical direction since forming in the 1980s -- but two of the band's founding members, singer/songwriter Ian Astbury and lead guitarist Brian Duffy, have remained throughout it all. The current drummer, John Tempesta, joined in 2006, playing with The Cult on tour and in concert ever since. In 2015, Grant Fitzpatrick (bass) and Damon Fox (keyboards/rhythm guitar) joined to help the band record their 10th album, permanently staying on after that. Although Astbury's heavenly vocals and Duffy's thrilling guitar may remain the lifeblood of The Cult on tour in 2022, the entire outfit fulfills the band's original promise and feels like they've stepped straight out of the '90s.

    An Electrifying Performance

by Mixter on 10/30/23Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

The Cult came to Vegas for a 2 night stint at The Pearl. Ian sounded AMAZING, even better than 10 years ago when I last saw them. Billy's playing was on FIRE! I only wish that they had played a couple more songs. The new album is great. I'm looking forward to seeing them again live on the next tour.

The Cult @ The Pearl Las Vegas

by PourMan on 10/30/23Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

It was a solid show. Ian's voice is still strong & the band was tight. One small issue tho', they haven't been playing 'Fire Woman' on this tour for some reason. As one of their most popular songs, I'd expect them to play that one. Would love to hear them play 'Peace Dog' too, but as one of their lesser popular songs, it would be nice, but not expected. 'Fire Woman' however, should be in the setlist. A good show otherwise ...

    Classic British Goth Rock

by Malkie on 10/30/23Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I have seen The Cult a few times and although this wasn’t the best it was still a great down and dirty, hot and sweaty Rock n Roll show! It was my wife’s first time seeing them and she enjoyed them immensely! 😎

by Lon C on 10/30/23Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

Saw British Rock Band The Cult in Vegas at the Palms Casino. The Pearl Theater was a great venue for the show. Ian still has his voice I'm happy to say after 40 years. Billy can shred too! Very glad I flew out.

    Awesome

by xmx7xmx on 10/30/23Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las Vegas

I’ve see the cult about 30ish times. The first in atl maybe 91ish. They sound better than ever, absolutely killed it. I love the new crew. Duffy can shred, just nasty riffs. I noticed he has a black falcon now which I’ve never seen. Ian has a tremendous voice and presence. The whole band, drums, bass, keys, all phenomenal. Great time. The played hollow man and go west which were unexpected treats.

    Great sound terrible venue

by Ryan on 10/29/23Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

Hands down worst concert I have been to. I was SO pumped to see The Cult. But the venue had terrible seat arrangement on the balcony. If anyone stood up they blocked the view of the entire stage. Of course the two rows in front of me stood and carried on, completely drunk, flipping people off. It ruined the experience. I had to stand in the isle to get any video at all. The security stood there and did nothing. I will never go to this venue again

    The Cult was a blast

by Timmus on 10/29/23Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

The Cult nailed it. They played a few new songs and mostly the songs we all know. I enjoyed it all. What a great trip down memory lane. The band was tight and the energy was great. The venue was the perfect size. The seats are tiny but we stood the entire time. Thanks for coming to Arizona!!!

    Amazing show and venue

by Live music lovers on 10/24/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

This was our first time seeing the Cult. The venue and the band made for an amazing experience! We saw them in San Diego at a small outdoor venue near a marina called Humphrey’s half moon on the bay. The experience was one of our best ever! We love smaller venues under 3000 capacity. This venue sat 1300 so no bad seat in the house. The band seems to put out an extra performance I think partly due to the venue. The sound quality was great but we were in the 5th row center. The Cult is such a rocking and entertaining band!

    Not worth it

by K. on 10/24/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

Seated shows at Humphreys are the absolute worst. The cheap folding chairs are ziptied together, literally forcing you to rub shoulders/hips/thighs with your neighbors, whether you know them or not. Makes for a very uncomfortable and awkward experience for everyone involved. I can only imagine how bad it is for the artists performing who usually have people dancing and having fun at their shows, just seeing everyone sitting there. This venue was definitely designed for smaller events, bathroom and drink lines were also ridiculous.

    9th show, something missing

by DPN on 10/23/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

First, I have loved the Cult all the way back to Southern Death Cult days. My 9th time seeing them live but Ian seemed to be searching for the lyrics if you know what I mean. I was in the 3rd row and had a great view and it was not his best performance. I have always loved them live and they always seem squared away. I am a huge fan regardless but there seemed to be a lot of lyrics "missing". Especially sweet soul sister was quite a bit butchered. He was also late getting back to the microphone several times and had to start in the middle of the lyric. Just sayin, love them regardless but I know almost every word to every song and I think Ian went home with a bunch of them stashed in his pocket. ;)

The venue was great and so we’re the Cult! The opening act wasn’t bad either! I will see them when they come back to San Diego!

    The Show was amazing!

by Dee on 10/23/23Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San Diego

The Cult was amazing, Ticketmaster accessing digital tickets is still a horrible experience didn't work again, had to go to boxoffice Humphreys By The Bay needs work when holding large concerts. I paid big money to be in the front row & people I saw behind a flimsy made shift gate were crowding me out. 1st 3 rows were allowed only is a joke!
