Catchy music that takes you to another world

    by M. R. on 3/10/20

I stepped into the theater and was transported to another time/country/culture and was absolutely captivated! Couldn’t stop replaying the songs the weeks afterwards!! What a great show, slow build up, but so moving

How could this win best musical at the Tony's

    by Mar-d on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Venue was great. Musical was not, it was so boring. There was barely any character depth, the music seemed like it didn't belong. What was it trying to tell/teach the audience? There was no moral. I almost fell asleep and wanted to walk out.

    Disappointing event.

    by m. on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Dull and cast’s accents too heavy. Songs forgettable. Hard to hear several times. Would not recommend to anyone.

An “ear worm” for days to come

    by M. R. on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The Germans call songs stuck in their heads Ohrwurm, but what do you call a whole series of songs stuck in your head? The music was fantastic and had your foot tapping in no time. The set was used so well and magical in the way it constantly changed with a prop or two. My only “issue” ( and this is a very small one at that) was not being able to understand the lyrics during the songs. That’s on me though :)

    Absolutely captivating

by Unique and soulful musical on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I enjoyed the music, liked the side jokes, the quirky interactions and loved the feeling of surface simplicity with deep emotional underpinnings.

    Beautiful music

by Avid musical fan on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The cast was excellent. The music was magical and beautiful. The play itself is on the slow side but everything else makes this well worth seeing. I loved it but husband was a little bored

    Heart warming

Loved the play. An important story of humanity. Difficult to hear the performers' speech and lyrics.

    Wonderful Play

by Bette on 9/18/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I love The Band’s Visit. However, if I hadn’t seen it in New York, I would not have known what the actors were saying. The acoustics in the CadillacPalace theater are awful. We couldn’t hear one word. The people sitting near us felt the same. I know all the music as I have listened to it numerous times. It’s a beautiful play with an amazing score by David Yasbek. Something should be done about the acoustics. I gave it only 4 stars because we could hear, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars

    Feel Good Musical

by KellyVee on 9/17/19Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The Band's Visit is one of those musicals that you will love for the heart that it has. It runs about 2 hours and does not have an intermission, but you don't notice it because the story and the humor just grabs you. The music brings together so many influences that you never see in the US, let a lone a musical. This show will make you laugh and keep you smiling all day.
