THE B-52S IN CONCERT:
Since forming in 1976, The B-52s have always stood out for their thrift-store chic style and ability to craft catchy, retro-inspired hits. Over the years they might have let their beehives down, but every-thing else about the band is still as tight as it was 30 years ago. Their call-and-response choruses always get fans singing along, and their fun and funky grooves will have you dancing right along with the band. The B-52s are taking their party atmosphere to select cities across the U.S. on their 2015 tour, bringing all their cool style and flamboyant fun to a town near you.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Named after a particular type of beehive hairdo, The B-52s rocketed out of Athens, Georgia in the late ’70s. Starting with their smash hit “Rock Lobster”, the band developed a reputation for campy fun and catchy melodies that carried over to other favorites like “Planet Claire” and “Private Idaho”. By the end of the decade, the band achieved a major mainstream radio breakthrough with the hits “Love Shack” and “Roam”. The band stayed relevant into the ’90s, appearing in The Flintstones live action movie (as “The BC-52’s”) and performing the theme song from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocko’s Modern Life. Almost 40 years later, this zany garage band is still having a blast -- and still sounds like a blast from the past.
I've been a fan since college in the 80s. They still sound the same, amazing! They played all the popular ones and more. They llok great and sound great. My wife and I will definitely be back for more in September. Thank you for making our lives a little better.
The venue-Venetian theatre-was beautiful. The band was excellent. The music was wonderful. The whole experience was magical.
If you can’t have fun with the B52’s, there’s no hope! From the videos/music before they came on stage to seeing everyone on their feet through the entire show to the very end when they thanked everyone, it was a concert we will never forget. Kate & Cindy & Fred & their great band-we hope you decide to play more shows! Thank you for being such a big part of my life from the 80’s to now!
This was a much better show than last year's when only Kate Pierson seemed into it. The band sounded great and they delivered many of their iconic hits, ending with their all-time classic "Rock Lobster."I noticed Freddy Schneider took a break which allowed Cindy and Kate to sing several songs and both seemed to be having fun. Kate's voice is still in fine form. This show had more energy and lasted longer than their previous residency. We were very close to the stage so when their confetti cannons went off we were covered with confetti - which just added to the experience. The usher in our section was really nice and friendly. All in all it was a great concert experience!
The B-52s put on a fantastic show. Loved the venue, the set list (havent' heard Legal Tender live in years!) and the energy of the crowd. Highly recommend!
Great show, in a intimate theatre. We loved it ,and the band were fab just as we remembered.
Have been a fan for over 30 years and this was my third show. Knew 95% of the songs and they sounded pretty good. Wish they would’ve played more from Cosmic Thing but it was good to hear a variety of their songs. It was an energetic show and the sections around me stood and danced the whole time! I loved it but some around me did not. I was on the lower level. Gonna miss these guys!
I thought they were good and tight and the girls especially were great but I reckon the volume needed to be louder especially in such a small venue. Roam is one of my favourite songs ever but it just sounded a bit quiet and flat. Played all the hits and hardly missed a beat. Fred and Cindy have great chemistry. Enjoy!
Terrific experience I hope this is not truly the end of live b52s Fun time had by everyone This band still rocks big time I have been waiting to see them for a long time Kate is my favourite but I love them all Thanks for everything!
Great show! They sounded great! The opening act dj was good but too long.
