About

SWMRS IN CONCERT:

Oakland-based SWMRS make straightforward punk rock that trades in their forebears' snarling attitudes and political posturing for tongue-in-cheek fun. The band loves to mess around both in the studio and on stage, and their live shows are wild free-for-alls that go perfectly with their cheeky lyrics and anything-goes attitude. Lest anyone take them too seriously, SWMRS is always quick to remind audiences that they're just out for a good time, smiling big and cracking jokes between compact punk nuggets like "Miley" (an irreverent ode to "punk rock queen" Miley Cyrus) and "Uncool" (a tribute to anyone shunned by the cool kids). It's seriously fun music, and ticket buyers have no trouble taking the plunge anytime SWMRS invites them along for their rollicking punk rock shenanigans.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

SWMRS began in 2004 as Emily's Army, an Oakland-based band formed by singer/guitarist Cole Becker and drummer Joey Armstrong (son of Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong). The group uploaded their demos to Myspace in 2008, and in 2010 they entered the studio to record their debut album with Billie Joe Armstrong as producer. The album, Don't Be a Dick, dropped in 2011 on Adeline Records and received comparisons to Green Day for its accessible blend of punk edge and pop hooks. After several tours including a stint on the 2012 Vans Warped Tour, the band returned to the studio with Billie Joe Armstrong to record their sophomore album, 2013's Lost at Seventeen. Following another round of touring, the band released the 2014 EP Swim and changed their name to Swimmers, which they streamlined to SWMRS for the 2015 release of the EP Miley/Uncool. Their third LP, 2016's Drive North, was recorded with producer Zac Carper, with stellar results—the album features the band's best work to date, and fans can't wait to hear the new tunes in concert

    A1 PITS

by Zuri on 5/6/19The Belasco Theater - Los Angeles

The line up overall was amazing! 4 bands equally carrying the energy throughout the night with pits for every song. Granted when SWMRS went up everyone pushed towards barricade but then they parted the crowd for the "Wall of Love" as opposed to the formally known Wall of Death allowing for anyone and everyone to join on the exhilaration. The welcoming energy for all really gave a sense of community between first time concert goers and veterans all around. Come summer, SWMRS is definitely a must see in concert. 20/10

    Meh

by mack on 4/25/19Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

I love love love SWMRS music. I love it. But this concert was pretty meh. For some reason I expected the set list to be different. I expected them to play a lot of songs that they just didn’t. But that’s on me, not them. Also the singer kinda looked like he was on heroin... Despite all this I would 100% see them again because what’s life without second chances?

    best first concert ever

by Grace M on 4/20/1920th Century Theater - Cincinnati

the concert was so interactive and fun and i truly couldn’t wish for a better first time, everyone there was so welcoming and kind. There was so much energy inside a small room I thought it would burst but it was so fantastic. I crowd surfed and moshed and had more fun than I ever had in my life so thank you! My sister at the end of the night had a panic attack and we had several workers and fans come up to check on us as well as Jakob from swmrs which did not go unnoticed; the environment and people there are fantastic and I cannot wait to for the next available moment to see them!!!

    Totally wild!!

by Lou on 4/15/19Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

The swmrs were awesome!!! They were super energetic and really kept the crowd involved. The whole show had a really great message. Cole, the singer said some really great things about being a community and changing the world together. It sounds cheesy here, but he put it much better. Also the band just looked like they were having a blast up on stage! This show was one of the crazier ones I’ve been to, crowd surfing, moshing, the whole bit. It was kind of scary at first but the crowd was super welcoming and friendly, the show super fun! I would totally recommend going. The opening bands the Destroy Boys and Beach Goons rocked too!

    SWMRS 2k19

by H. R. on 4/15/19Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

Desite 15 year olds having no understanding of how a pit works, SWMRS put on one of the best shows I've seen in a while. A solid mix of old and new music, great involvement with the crowd, and overall, nothing but wonderful messages to be spread. The guys in SWMRS want their followers to become a community. That's what the music scene is. Rad performance. I hope to see them again so soon.
