Calgary Wranglers History
The Calgary Wranglers are a professional hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wranglers trace their founding back to the Maine Mariners in 1977, but after several moves throughout the years, the Stockton Heat relocated to Calgary and were renamed the Calgary Wranglers ahead of the 2022–2023 AHL season. The name change itself was notable for reviving the same moniker as the former local Western Hockey League team, who played in Calgary from 1977 to 1987. In their inaugural AHL season, the Wranglers led the league in wins and regular season points, the latter of which earned the team the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy.

Calgary Wranglers at Scotiabank Saddledome
The Calgary Wranglers moved into downtown Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome following the team’s relocation to Stampede City in 2022. Despite its relatively new occupants, the Scotiabank Saddledome is no stranger to hockey, having hosted the NHL’s Calgary Flames since its opening in 1983 as well as the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen since 1995. The 19,280-seat arena also accommodated the Wranglers’ predecessor, the Stockton Heat, in 2021 prior to the team’s move.

by Chris Tazzman on 5/14/23Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryI enjoyed the game despites the locals having it handed to them 6-3 to open up the Pacific Division finals. Glad again to get a great seat row 4 in section 228. I was happy again they were selling some in the second bowl. They are much better than the majority of the first bowl options I feel. The crowd was a bit smaller than I was expecting, it was around 4800. Far less than the drew in round one. Again, they added another $10 to the regular price for round two so at $56.25 (about $20 more than the regular price) maybe some decided to pass.

I am glad they released seats in the second bowl, I had a great spot in row 4 section 211. I much prefer the vantage point of the second bowl to that of the first bowl. I was initially disappointed that they chose throughout the season to only sell seats in the first bowl for the Wranglers, and other than a few exceptions for the Calgary Hitmen as well.
