About

Ever since his 2009 debut, DJ/producer Shlohmo has been at the vanguard of LA's increasingly prolific underground hip-hop scene. As a founding member of the WeDidIt Collective, Shlohmo's trap and electronica-infused productions have joined work by artists like Salva and RL Grime in introducing audiences around the globe to LA's unique spin on the genre. From bass-heavy productions for up-and-comers like Banks to searingly original tracks like "No More," Shlohmo's envelope-pushing sounds will have collective hairs standing on end at his upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Los Angeles-born Henry Laufer, a.k.a. Shlohmo, started making beats at age 14, honing the downtempo, lo-fi sound that would mark his later productions. At age 17, he and his friends discovered Low End Theory, the weekly underground hip-hop and dubstep night in LA that launched the careers of artists like Flying Lotus, Daedelus, and the Glitch Mob. Inspired by the success of the scene's underground producers, he began taking his music more seriously, releasing a string of EPs beginning with 2009's Shlo-Fi. His 2011 debut album Bad Vibes brought him further visibility, leading to acclaimed productions for Ryan Hemsworth and Banks and paving the way extensive touring. Back on the road, Shlohmo will serve up his signature leftfield hip-hop to fans around the country.

The only thing was that we had to wait until 11 pm for him to begin playing when doors opened at 8. Otherwise the music was fantastic and the venue was nice.

There were three opener djs who played for three whole hours before Shlohmo and they weren't even listed when I bought these tickets. They played the same old repetitive edm and once it reached 10 o'clock, I was fed up and frustrated and couldn't even enjoy myself. Shlohmo didn't come on until 11 when the show began at 8, so I only got to see him for 5 minutes, since I needed to take the commuter rail back home. I was incredibly disappointed and mislead, I don't know why the three djs weren't listed. I'd ask for my money back but obviously that isn't happening.
