About

SG Lewis In Concert

SG Lewis' slippery electro-pop distills a whole night — from dance-club euphoria to after-party introspection — into warm, hypnotic soundscapes. Finding his signature sound didn't take long for the young artist (real name Sam) from Reading, England.

He first started playing guitar in bands with friends, before he quickly took to electronic experimentation and production on his own. His love for both the haunting sounds of singer-songwriters like Bon Iver and James Blake and the infectious club beats of producers like The Neptunes and Timbaland would inspire his first creations, which he began to post on SoundCloud.

When Lewis made the move to Liverpool, where he first dipped his toes into club culture, he began his career as a DJ, eventually scoring a residency at the city's popular Chibuku. Around the same time, his original recordings were getting noticed online.

In 2014, when he posted a remix of alt-R&B singer Jessie Ware's song "You & I (Forever)," it caught the attention of Ware's label, PMR Records. They quickly signed Lewis and released his debut EP, ‘Shivers' — featuring the Pharrell-approved track "Warm" — the following year. That track also received prime placement on the HBO show ‘Ballers,' helping expose Lewis to a whole new audience across the pond.

Lewis soon became a regular on festival lineups around Europe, including Pitchfork's annual musical festival in Paris. By 2016, he was ready to take on the States, making his debut at the Coachella Music Festival and performing at sold-out shows in major cities around the U.S. That same year, he released his sophomore EP, ‘Yours.'

He's since added a number of key collaborations to his catalog, and has even been remixed by artists like rapper G-Eazy (with his song "No Less"). In 2018, he dropped a slew of singles, along with an EP trilogy — ‘Dusk, Dark, Dawn' — which weaves together disco, techno, pop, and hip-hop for infectious tracks like "Hurting," featuring AlunaGeorge. As the anticipation grows for the release of his first full-length album, Lewis continues to build his fan base online and across the U.S. and Europe on his regular tours.

SG Lewis AND his band were EXCEPTIONAL Disco/dance/electro‼️

by Artelle on 10/30/22The Loft - Atlanta

Arriving early there was an announced opening act who resembled SG Lewis(terrible sound.) He played familiar sound, but having done NO research on SG Lewis(he’s on many collaborations on Spotify)I was unaware how many compiled in his sound! As the 9 o’clock hour approached, I wasn’t sure if I had missed part of his act! Approaching the front door people they told me of the opening DJ(who was not on the ticket OR billing anywhere)was finishin up! To be fair, it was his Birthday and prolly last minute & no sound check for him because SG Lewis’s set & sound were tight! I could hear rhe difference immediately & the dancing rhythm movement began & DID-NOT-STOP: Bravo & BRAVA‼️

    What a great night

by Alex on 11/17/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

It was my first time visiting the city of Oakland for a concert at the fox theater. I enjoyed the venue and was very happy with upgrading my ticket to vip for the full experience. The people were friendly and the drinks were good and strong. I would enjoy going back in the future for another concert. Sg Lewis was fantastic and put on a really good show.

Worst Sound Quality I Have Ever Experienced At The Fox

by jrrd on 11/15/21Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

I was very excited for this show, but the sound quality was terrible throughout. I love the Fox and I have been to so many shows over the past 15 years of living in the Bay Area, but this was the worst sound quality I have experienced thus far at the Fox. The bass was too loud, the high range was barely audible, and even with my high quality ear plugs in, I could hear feedback and sounds that hurt. I could not understand anything SG Lewis said when he talked on the microphone. I was so disappointed! I could not get into the music, and if I hadn't been there with a group of people, I would have left
