Seattle Men’s Chorus delivered another moving performance! I had moments of tears, laughter and felt like community.
We saw the Seattle Men's Choris. They are fantastic and very professional. With their level of talent, I rate them up to a level of a professional Broadway Show. Very elite!!!
Upside: the Seattle Men's chorus was great as always. Downside: dealing with ticketmaster (why did we buy the best seats available and then see numerous empty seats in front of us?). Also, the perfunctory acknowledgment that we were in the traditional ancestral lands of the Duwamish., No, damit, we are not in Seattle, we are in Tacoma, the traditional ancestral lands of the Puyallup.
The Seattle Men's Chorus was FANTASTIC as always. Totally enjoyed the experience. The production was lively, great music, great dancing and outstanding voices. Have NEVER been disappointed in the Chorus.
We really look forward to this event every December, and this was the best one ever! That said, it is a very high bar. The concert was a ton of fun, and believe it or not, it was also educational. Do you know what a mondegreen is? If not, you will know after the concert. If you already do, your repertoire will be expanded I promise. Voices were pitch perfect, the dancing was fantastic, and the range of selections was interesting. All I can say is-GO! If I could I’d go again…
The Seattle Men’s Chorus holiday event was amazing . It got us in the Holiday spirit. It gets better and better every year. Thanks for coming to Tacoma!
They were fabulous as always. Great music; Cleaver skits for laughter. Left feeling much better than when I arrived. Happy Holidays.
I went with my parents to this event. The chorus was incredible! The arrangements, choreography, costumes, and dancing were all masterfully done. I felt so much joy and holiday spirit being in that theater! I thought the song about "Misheard Christmas lyrics"was really clever and liked that there was a mash up of traditional and non-traditional holiday music. There are performances from the acapella group, a celebration of holiday drag, Elton John-akah (Chanakah songs in the style of Elton John), and even a racy number about Santa's Lost Ho (This is the only number where those who are more conservative may take umbridge as it does include a some PG-13 language and a tear-away tuxedo.) A wonderful show. We're going to bring the whole family next year!
The show was musically great as well as entertaining. The drummer boy number with the dance group was my favorite. Sound balance on first few numbers was not good as it made the pieces sound lower range heavy almost unison, this improved as show progressed. My only complaint is not about the Chorus but the ticket sales. Secondary ticket sellers really jacked the price charging double to triple the price found on the chorus website. Also, the service fees are ridiculous for a paperless transaction. This resulted in way too many empty seats in a performance that is usually sold out and made the performance unaffordable to many in the community because of this scalping if they looked only at these sights (Tacoma Arts Live) as an example. Also, Ticketmaster whom I went through did not disclose until after purchase that ticket was mobile phone accessible only. Since I do not have a mobile phone, it involved an extra trip to the box office to get tickets printed before the show to insure access. These ticket sellers are adversely affecting attendance at a cost to the performing group. I will go directly to box office in the future, not online.
