Saratoga Race Track. I had never used TICKETMASTER before so I was apprehensive when I found out the tickets I purchased would not be printed out. I am old and feeble and am not used to this new fangled technology. But once I installed the app and contacted Ticketmaster a couple times, I was able to use it at the venue. Still would have preferred a printed out ticket As far as the event, I had been there before and there weren't many new surprises. Free parking is now across from the main gate but it is small and was already filled by the time we got there. Free newspaper with all the betting info 60 yards to the left once you enter. What used to be the exercise area for the horses is now reserved picnic area.
I just spent my 75th birthday at Saratoga Racetrack & it was so much fun. Everybody seemed so happy there. There was a little rain in the middle of the afternoon & that brought out a great rainbow. I hope to get back there next year.
We paid top dollar for reserved seats and throughout the day people with just Gen Admission tickets sat throughout the day in reserved seats……numerous people. And they were only asked to move when someone showed with a reserved ticket. But get this, usually just moved to other empty seats in same row or section. Never again will I pay for reserved seats at horse track.
So I would like to preface this review by saying that I’m a person who loves/rides horses and horse racing as a sport. I’ve been to Saratoga race track on a normal weekend, absolutely loved it as well as the atmosphere. However, I surprised my sister, (also horse lover and a writer working on a novel based around Saratoga racing in the late 1890s) by taking her to the Traver’s stakes. We parked ten minutes away, got to the gate to find a protest taking place and realized that almost everyone in the ocean of people, were there for betting, getting drunk and cigars. Should have expected it but after walking around for 3 hours, decided to watch one more race and then leave. Started pouring down raining and had the best time standing in the rain, watching all the ladies run for dear life so as not to ruin their best hats. Drove home and was in time to watch the Traver’s on TV. Definitely planning on going a different weekend, but probably not for the traver’s again. If the aesthetic is your thing, you’d love it. If you’re going for the horses, save $40 and watch it from the comfort of your own home.
Buy at the gate 7.00 less! Also just as fast getting in!
The best race track in the word. I am a horseman but the reality is one of the best experience in my life it's when I visit this place, everything is peace and love.
Parking was efficient. Security and admissions were friendly and quick. We sat under the trees next to the grandstand. We were able to watch the monitors and converse with our friends and others. We were able to access the betting/cashing windows and race track easily. We had a great time
Brit Floyd was wonderful!! They are a very talented group of musicians.
Fun experience, even for the young teens. Great variety of races, it’s nice that you can still go and lose a small amount lol (bet minimums are minimal), and ambiance is as expected. Free parking close by, various food and drinks options.
