Denton, Texas-born Sarah Jaffe burst onto the state's music scene in the mid-00's with a vibrant folk-pop sound. Her impressive live shows and 2008 debut EP Ever Born Again quickly earned her a fanbase, and in 2009 she signed to Kirtland Records. She made her album debut in 2010 with Suburban Nature, which was recorded in a funeral parlor and continued her narrative-based folk sound with wistful tracks like "Clementine". Her 2012 sophomore album The Body Wins marked a stylistic shift, replacing acoustic guitar strumming with electronic beats, dark synth textures, and distorted vocals. After a busy year of touring with bands like Midlake and the Old 97's, Jaffe returned the studio to record her third album. The result was 2014's Don't Disconnect, a critically acclaimed collection of songs that brought her new electronic direction to full fruition. A gifted performer known for her passionate live shows, Jaffe continues to dazzle ticket buyers on her unforgettable tours.
