    1904 Season opener notes

by Darsea on 9/17/19SDCCU Stadium (Formerly Qualcomm Stadium) - San Diego

This is simply my opinion: So the season opener for 1904 did not get off to the best start. Charging $50 a ticket for an unproven semi pro team in a newly made up league did not spark much enthusiasm. Then the ownership realized that tickets were not being sold (obviously bc $50 is ridiculous) so they dropped prices to a reasonable amount that myself along with the soccer community would accept. This was only then completely negated when we were charged $20 to park at the stadium. Parking should not be charged when there is only 3000 people in a 60,000 seat stadium. Also, just a heads up, charging as much for parking as the tickets cost was a HUGE negative that discourages me to go again. Some of the logistics were in need of a bit of editing too. We were forced to park on the southwest side of the stadium, but then everyone seats were on the north side of the stadium. Walking around the entire stadium was a bit of an inconvenience that I feel can easily be rectified by opening the parking nearest the stadium opening. Again, there may be a lot I do not know, just initial observations. On the other hand, the actual product on the field (the actual team) was good and entertaining. The players were passionate, they acknowledged the fans they had on hand, and didn't play terribly. It is definitely not a pro team yet, but a good grassroots team with spark and some standout talents. Plus, winning on the first home game definitely helps to get people hooked. So, overall, the logistics and ownership need some help, but the product was a fun and exciting display of futbol.
