Said the Sky in Concert

There's been a noticeable change in Said the Sky's live performances. You could feel it in the air at the dinosaur-themed 2018 Lost Lands Festival in Ohio. Said the Sky's melodic electronica was on full display, from atmospheric set opener "Never Gone" into a remix of Marshmello and Selena Gomez's "Wolves" on a stage flanked by a brontosaurus and two velociraptors.

But the difference wasn't just the dinosaurs, because the same new energy was fluttering through two sold-out nights at the Berkeley, California, venue Cornerstone later in the year. Said the Sky mastermind Trevor Christensen and his dreadlocked touring synth drummer, Day Gatsby, bounced in perfect unison with the 600-person capacity crowd.

This music was performed 100 percent live. Leaving the DJ sets behind is a commitment Christensen made as his project's star began to rise.

"I never want to go back. I'm sure I'll still play some DJ sets and they're fun in the right setting, but there's so much difference in the two performances and the live set is just so much more fun," he told Relentless Beats.

Said the Sky Background

Twenty-five-year-old Trevor Christensen grew up in Colorado and played piano since he was 8 years old. When he took an electronic music and production course in high school, he gravitated toward EDM and programs like Logic Pro and Ableton. At the Berklee College of Music, Christensen paired his passion with classical training and created Said the Sky.

He released the debut EP Faith in 2014 and has been nothing short of prolific since, featuring on a slew of singles by Illenium and releasing his first full-length album, Wide-Eyed, in 2018. Collaborating with the soaring Illenium has been a constant for Said the Sky, as the pair share a similar pop sensibility within their atmospheric trap-infused EDM. Their track "Rush Over Me," which also featured producer Seven Lions, peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic chart and No. 35 on the Digital Dance/Electronic chart.

    Great Show, Dumb Venue

by Sarah on 11/14/22Big Night Live - Boston

This was a great show, but I want to see EDM artists at other venues in Boston like HOB, MGM or Roadrunner. Big Night Live is a poorly laid our venue with bad club vibes.

    Fantastic show

by Jacko on 11/14/22Big Night Live - Boston

Said the Sky always delivers, incredible experience. Music, visuals, overall experience was all great. The openers Aaron Shirk and Midnight Kids both absolutely crushed it too, can't wait to follow their future successes

    It was good

by Will T on 4/20/22House of Blues Boston - Boston

It was good. There’s a 50 character limit so I’m gonna share my opinion that dugongs are really cool sea creatures.

by Adam89 on 4/20/22House of Blues Boston - Boston

The entire show was great! Midnight Kids absolutely killed it! He did all my f sortie songs, and had beautiful instrumentals, plus new songs! Said the Sky also nailed it! The visuals were incredible and the show had a great flow to it! If you can go, I highly recommend!

A lot of fun wish it was more sitting for the disabled

by Britt on 4/13/22Echostage - Washington

There needed to be more siting on the lower level for people who are disabled there needs to be more security for women to feel safe.

Amazing set but some issues with the lineup

by Ghanem on 4/12/22Echostage - Washington

Elohim’s sound was definitely not in sync with the rest of the set. I am a huge fan of her usual music, but her DJ set was a heavy techno like set. Which is fine, it’s always a good thing when artists explore a new genre and express themselves how they want to, but it didn’t fit the overall vibe of the show that night. I feel like there were a ton of different artists I would’ve rather seen in that spot, even Midnight kids being bumped up would’ve been more in line with what Said the Sky eventually played. Overall it didn’t ruin my night or anything like that and I still think her set was good for what it was, but the jarring difference in her sound threw me off.

by Pittsburgh on 4/10/22Roxian Theatre - Pittsburgh

What an amazing concert. The openers were phenomenal and had the best energy. The lights and effects were on point and the crowd was so interactive. Honestly one of the best concerts I have been to in a very long time!
