Raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Riovaz was surrounded by music from a very young age. His sister was a singer, his brother was a passionate music fan and his parents would often listen to '80s pop music around the house, including Michael Jackson and Argentinian alternative rock.

Riovaz initially tried his hand at music playing video games like "Guitar Hero" and began writing his own songs at the age of 13. He started posting songs to SoundCloud and Instagram, but found that he was teased for his creativity by the kids at his high school. He was getting ready to throw in the towel when he texted a friend saying he wanted to quit making music. His friend picked up the phone to talk him out of it, and told him to just be consistent. Riovaz took his friend's advice and has lived by the belief that if you make things consistently, eventually something good will happen.

And so it did with the release of his hit tune "Prom Night," which catapulted Riovaz's career into the stratosphere and amassed him millions of fans around the world. He released the 2022 EP Better Late Than Forever, which expands on his sound by combining house and folk music and delighted his ever-growing fanbase.
