Impressive cast

Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

My first time seeing RENT, although I knew a couple of the songs and love, Seasons Of Love. I do not care for singing dialogue generally, and this show had some of that, but it also has some strong songs. The show itself I felt could be edited as it was a bit long and repetitious in spots. What made it for me was the cast. All very strong vocalists which is rare. Usually there are one or more cast members singing voices that I do not care for. But this 20th reunion cast was impressive.

Good production!

Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

I really enjoyed this production as a big fan of Rent (both the original musical and 1996 movie). Overall, I would recommend! Many of the young actors were fantastic in their roles - Logan Marks as Mark, Lencia Kebede as Joanne, Devinre Adams as Collins, and Joshua Bess as Roger. Javon King as Angel was exceptional! I left in awe of how good King was at dancing on the table and jumping up and down from the table like it was easy all the while singing. Costumes were reminiscent of the 1989-90 setting.

Rent at the Palace Theatre

Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

The singing was great. Personally, it wasn't my favorite show and I've enjoyed many before. The Palace Theater is beautiful. That being said, the experience was ruined by a woman in front of me who, in a dark theater kept repeatedly checking her cell phone and had it on the brightest setting. Others around me were annoyed as well. The Usher next to us was watching her as well but refused to do anything. It was extremely rude (no joke she checked it at least 50 times) in spite of people asking her to put her phone away. Also, my seat was not comfortable at all, I felt cramped and my back hurt so I had to keep changing my position during the show.

Best Ever

Palace Theatre Columbus - Columbus

It was better than I could’ve hoped for. I was nervous, I loved the stuff I’ve seen on tv, and I so needed this to live up to that and it did. I was very active in the early stages of the AIDS epidemic and this pinched me harder in the gut than expected.

Rent the musical

Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Performers were excellent singers. But the plot and characters were hard to follow and not very gripping.

Overall pretty good

Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Overall I thought the play was good, the vocals were AMAZING and each actor made you feel connected to the character. My only issues was the play was a little hard to follow if you're unfamiliar with the story line of the movie. My wife explained it to me, so that helped me get a understanding of what was going on. I'd suggest doing some background research on the theme before seeing the stage play but I'd definitely recommend it! Tom Collins was a BEAST vocalist!!

The Detroit tour of Rent was spectacular!! The young man in the role of Angel was the best I had ever seen 😁!! I left the theater singing the songs in my head for days!!
