    Magnificent and fun concert!

by Former RR on 12/20/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

I loved the mix of old favorties and beautiful new music. I especially enjoyed the arrangements by Sandra Ethun (sp?) And the Crazy Train Rock piece was fabulous! Dave does an excellent job in programming, including serious, moving pieces, interspersed with light and amusing ones sprinkled with RR antics. Hark the Herald Angels Sing was a beautiful way to move into the Silent Night Finale. It we well worth braving the storm that afternoon to experience such a top notch performance.

This is my Christmas tradition! I have attended every year since Stairway to Heaven. Such a professional performance. Love the humor. This year RR played my 2 favorites - Christmas Eve Sarajevo and Lucy & Linus.

After the first ring, it all sounded the same.

by Anticipation on 12/19/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

Could have been a 30 Minute Show if the conductor didn’t talk for 5 minutes between songs. One and Done. OBTW seats were not bad.

    Raleigh Ringers Christmas concert 2023

by Shelley on 12/19/23Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts (fka Duke Energy) - Raleigh

They never disappoint. This was my 3rd show and this is such a talented and entertaining group of musicians. I have to admit in the final act the transition from Hark the Herald Angels song to Silent Night in the auditorium lit only by candles was emotional. Such visual and sound beauty. Thank you !

    Raleigh Ringers Christmas 2022

by JohnH on 12/25/22Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh

We are long-time fans of the Raleigh Ringers and have missed only a few of their Christmas Concerts to start our Christmas season. This year's concert was no exception to their long history of semi-professional excellence as handbell ringers (non-profit as an organization but professional in their level of skill). Since their first concert, that we attended, in NC State's Stuart Auditorium back in the 1990's, they have made music with handbells that I did not believe was possible with handbells.

This was an early Christmas present from my wife to me. We enjoyed the music of such talented musicians. However, the not so special effect of the "smoke" was very much of a distraction to of what we hope to be an evening to remember. Each time it was used, not only was there a terrible odor, but it was also very irritating to our eyes and throat! My wife was hospitalized in the past due to a repository arrest and spend several days on a ventilator and recovery for weeks. I'm sure, no positive that others with breathing issues had similar concerns. We watched the Christmas Special on PBS this weekend and did not see the use of this hindrance. She booked online and I'm not sure if there was any disclaimer about the special effect. If there is a next time, we consider attending a concert we will be sure to inquire if the distraction will be used. If so, we will not have the opportunity to enjoy the concert in person.
