About

Pistols at Dawn on Tour

Known for turning out legendary rock bands like Mastodon and Sevendust, Atlanta's rock scene has offered up another chart-worthy band -- Pistols at Dawn.

Pistols at Dawn have been compared to a combination of Godsmack, Tool, AC/DC, and Metallica, but their unique blend of metal, grunge and progressive rock differentiates them with a powerful vintage sound all their own.

They released their debut album, the self-titled Pistols at Dawn, in 2019. Their follow-up album, Ascension, was released in 2022. In December 2022, their first single off the Ascension album, "The Truth," hit No. 6 on the Secondary Market Rock Chart's Top 50.

In a 2022 interview with UK music and culture blog York Calling, Adam Jaffe, Pistols at Dawn's founder, has said their live shows are "An old school, high energy, intense hard rock show without tracks." If you're ready for no-nonsense, hard-hitting rock, they're a prime choice. Get tickets to see Pistols at Dawn when they come to a city near you.

Pistols at Dawn Live in Concert

The Atlanta, Georgia, band Pistols at Dawn formed in 2015 by drummer Adam Jaffe. Other band members include guitarist Devin White, guitarist Tommy Richardson and bassist Billy Sullivan.

Jaffe got into music while watching a friend's band rehearse. He was invited to sit in on drums one day, played along with Aerosmith's "What it Takes" on the radio, and was hooked. He took lessons with a professional for two years before joining a band, and the rest is history.

Jaffe decided on the band name "Pistols at Dawn" after seeing old movies where adversaries challenge each other to a duel to protect their honor. In a 2021 interview with Ever Metal, he said, "They would always call out 'pistols at dawn,' and I just always remembered that so I pitched it to the band, and everybody loved it."

Jaffe says his personal musical influences include Steven Adler (Guns N' Roses), Will Calhoun (Living Colour), Steven Perkins (Jane's Addiction), and Morgan Rose (Sevendust). As a whole, the band says Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Killswitch Engage, Metallica, and Led Zeppelin influenced their music.

When asked in an interview with Ever Metal what he'd be doing if he wasn't a musician, he said, "There is no other option than to play music." Good answer.

Great to catch them before the big tours of 2023

This was a benefit show also to serve as a practice / warm-up show before big tours in 2023 including a leg with Alterbridge. Great show, they were spot on and ready for the big tours. Fun show in ATL (the band's hometown) and also for a great cause. Make sure you catch them this year! They are about to blow up big!
