Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

    Fun Saturday Night

by Section735 on 3/19/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Had tickets in the Assembly Room for a group of seven of us. No problems getting up to the seating area, loved the couches and fire places that were up there, we had a blast watching the game from there or from the standing room area. Great time, we will be back for sure.

    Assembly Room

by Dan on 3/19/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The Assembly Room itself, is great value for the price. It’s no secret though that the food is outrageously over priced. Little value for the money spent there though but I don’t expect that to change.

    A fun night, however......

by Bob on 3/11/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

We really enjoyed the game even though our team lost! The entertainment during game breaks was unexpected but added a lot to the evening. Two negatives: (1) could not get actual tickets but had to download them to our cell - not a big deal but a bit annoying (2) the food at the Wells Fargo Center was lousy and way, way over priced. You are not allowed to bring anything in, and with a captive crowd, the gauging was outrageous!

    Waste of money

by Vic on 3/9/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Tickets cost a fortune, and the Sixer’s played horribly.

    Great seats Bad basketball

by David on 2/28/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Spent $900+ on three tickets. The game was awful worst basketball I have seen in person in a long time. What a waste of time and money. The Sixers are a bad product that is not worth watching anywhere. Without Embiid the Sixers are one of the worst teams in the NBA. No effort no energy and no win

    Better instructions for parking

by Ed on 2/25/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Overall very positive. As a constructive criticism, I think Ticketmaster can provide better instructions for parking. Maybe include a map attached to the ticket or list the parking lot letter. Also, if you can provide feedback to the venue, they could use some traffic preparation to ensure better and safer flow of cars in and out. You can use other cities’ procedures as reference. Overall the parking process looked disorganized (we were visiting Philly). Thank you.

Worst event ever, waste of my money.

by Keith on 2/17/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

You'd think paying more for seating in section 1 would be awesome, think again. The seats beyond the wall are higher, leaving everyone in front completely obstructing near view. Watching the game mostly on the screen, leaving with a stiff neck from looking up. My girlfriend is short, she couldn't see anything unless someone moved. Myself, I'm 6'2 sitting down could only see the rims and heads of players when they came near. 112-1-7,8 seats sucked! Waste of $1,100 and the 3 hour drive!

    Kids had a good time

by MDK on 2/12/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Took a couple of my grandkids to the sixers/hawks game. Seating was in the higher 200 section but still good seats and view. I liked the electronic-only access. The event was crowded but Wells Fargo attendants managed the traffic flow well. I rated the event a four only because the concessions are poor with dry chicken tenders, shoe-leather burgers and stale fries for eighty bucks. Because the kids had a blast, I'll do another game, maybe next time a flyers game but I'll definitely eat first.

    Good Times!

by Jah Rah on 2/12/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The 76ers did not win but we had fun. My boyfriend was mad that we paid for higher end seats and the two star players did not play (0 and 21). I'm not into the game like that and overall had an enjoyable evening.

    No Embiid, No fun

by Fan on 2/8/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The Sixers do not have enough to compete without Embiid.

    Expensive

by Rudy on 2/8/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

So unfortunately Embid is hurt and could not play. Get well soon. Anyway, took our grandsons so it was 5 of us all told. Was shocked by the refreshment prices along with ticket expenses then parking. Needless to say we won’t be going back!

    Big waste of money

by Vic on 2/8/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Horrible game, it was over for the Sixers in the first quarter. Me and my sons were very disappointed with the poor performance of the Sixers.

    We missed Joel and Tobias

by Curtis on 2/7/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

With this game the crowd energy was the lowest of the many games I've attended. Didn't help that Tobias Harris was also out, Sixers are in trouble when missing 2 of their stars. A full house but the crowd had too much apathy!

    Great experience !!

by DM on 2/6/24Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Sixers games are always great- especially if you have kids… this game was a Christmas present for my son. Although the Sixers did not win, we still had a fun time. The seats were amazing and the atmosphere electric !! Highly recommend all basketball fans to attend a Sixers game.

Sixers games are always great entertainment, even for the lukewarm basketball fan!
