PBR: Professional Bull Riders on Tour

For a rodeo rider, trying to master a feisty horse is tough enough, a task not to be taken lightly, but bearing down on a big bull increases the scariness quotient considerably. That's one of the things that makes watching a pro bull rider so compelling — it's thrilling and frightening in equal measure as you marvel at the riders' skills while praying that they make it out unscathed.

These days, when it comes to bull riding, it's all about PBR: Professional Bull Riders. The organization started back in 1992 as a grassroots effort spearheaded by a handful of riders with a vision for what the sport could offer to fans. PBR grew by leaps and bounds over the decades, and by the 2010s they were sponsoring three major tours every year, adding up to hundreds of events with millions of dollars in prizes being awarded annually.

Needless to say, attending a PBR event means watching the best bull riders in the business strutting their stuff. Over the years, champs like J.B. Mauney, Kody Lostroh, Justin McBride, Adriano Moraes, Chris Shivers, and Tuff Hedeman have all distinguished themselves as decorated heroes of the PBR, giving all the rest a high standard to which they could aspire. And each of their tours offer fans the opportunity to catch some bull riding history in the making, be it the Unleash the Beast Series that ends with the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, The Velocity Tour that showcases the rising stars of the PBR, or the Touring Pro Division split into Western, Central, and Eastern regions.

Whichever PBR competition you end up catching, there's one common thread. You're guaranteed to see some world-class athletes reaching deep inside themselves to tap into the best of their talents and give rodeo lovers an unforgettable experience.

    Ok for a small town

by Ticket price not equal to experience value on 4/16/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

The tickets were expensive by most standard events at that venue. It was ok, but nothing special. Our local rodeos produce such talent that it was just like a local bull ride.

    PBR Is Awesome

by CJN on 4/16/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

This was the first time a PBR event was held at the Mountain America Center. I have attended these type events all over the western US. This event locale was awesome. There was not a bad seat at all. The food and beverage vendors were great, a good selection and very well organized. The event itself was well done, the announcers were easy to hear and understand, the bull fighters and pick-up men were all very professional. I loved it! Well done!!

    Great Time

by Donee on 4/16/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

We have never been to PBR. It was so much fun and I was so excited to see Paige Anne sing the National Anthem. It was a very exciting show. We will definitely go again if they come back to Idaho Falls

    Everything, everywhere, all at once

by Lee on 4/16/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

I anticipated more professional/touring PBR riders so it was disappointing that only a handful of riders were able to hold the 8 seconds. (Although God bless the efforts of all the fellas). It also felt like there was a LOT going on besides the bull riding, between fireworks, music and flashing lights, the event felt chaotic at times and the volume was a little too high. Seats are also way too close. Probably would opt to not attend next time.

    Bulls won

by rdd on 4/16/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

Overall, it was ok. Pre-party - First, my daughter wanted to go to the pre-party hoping to meet/get autographs from some of the riders only to find out there weren't any that came into the pre-party and apparently, it wasn't in the plans for them to. We met the bull fighters (who were great by the way) and then left early and went to Army surplus...that's how fun it wasn't. The event itself - We had great seats and the venue was great so viewing wasn't an issue but we were really disappointed in the quality of riders. For the price of the tickets and all the "hype", we were anticipating a much higher level of riders given that it is a PBR event. It just seemed like the "B"or "C"team rather than a group of professional athletes. We have attended a lot of riding and rodeo events and it felt like a local rodeo with local riders still learning how to ride but couldn't stay on for anything. The bulls definitely won out that night and apparently the night before as well. Not sure I would waste money attending a PBR event in Idaho Falls again. Local rodeos and riding events seem to have the same level of riding for MUCH less.

    Fun Times

by Old PBR Man on 4/15/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

We had a great time. It was exciting and something different to attend. We still love a good rodeo but would attend PBR again if it came to town again!

    BLOCKED VIEW

by LBW on 4/15/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

Our view was blocked by the stair railing and our leg room was also cut short because of it. Was not aware of this when we purchased our tickets. PBR was great from what we saw

    Blam! That was fun.

by Bullride on 4/15/24Hero Arena at the Mountain America Center - Idaho Falls

Will purchase tickets to this everytime it comes back. It was a great venue. The stock was fantastic, as a fan of the big build, it was fun to see some of the best in America. The whole event was great fun, with Smoke and fire and lots of action.

    Not PBR riding.

    by Sue on 4/14/24

We fell in love with PBR after attending an event in Nampa Idaho a couple of decades ago. After finding out they were coming closer to home we jumped to buy tickets as well as for family. We found the hype of the opening ceremony and the rodeo clown to be great as he kept the crowd alive. But to our disappointment we did not see the quality of riders like we had experienced before. 4 out of 45 riders were only able to make the 8 sec ride. Most of the riders who were mostly local or nearby riders barely made it out of the chutes. Not sure if I’d attend another PBR at the Idaho Falls Mountain America again. It was not what I expected for riding performance.
