My friends that I was with liked it a lot, but I thought that the acting was average at best. There was only one set...the inside of the family's cottage. With only one set, scenes from the movie such as Norman getting lost looking for strawberries and the boat accident are not included in the play. On the positive, it was fun to see a movie I loved in a play, with much of the conversations being the same in the play as in the movie.
Exceptional play with superb performance by all. Nathan moved just a bit too fast for an 80 year old, but it kept things moving nicely!
The main character actors had the accents and mannerisms down, and the supporting cast was more than adequate to carry their parts. We did not understand the casting choice for the young boy, but the acting was good, at any rate. We loved the film but had never seen the story on stage, so the adaptation of what we remembered was fun, and overall this was a very enjoyable show!
