About

The mysterious nothing, nowhere. is the project of Vermont-based musician Joe Mulherin, a singer, rapper, and songwriter who mixes cathartic emo-rap, trap, and indie rock styles in equal measure. After building up his profile with a handful of small independent releases, he made a splash with 2017's Reaper, his critically lauded second album and debut for Pete Wentz 's DCD2 label. His bloodlust EP, a collaboration with blink-182 's Travis Barker , was released in 2019, followed by the album Trauma Factory in 2021.

A native of Foxborough, Massachusetts, Mulherin began playing acoustic guitar at the age of 12, first attempting emo-style versions of popular rap songs. After devoting time to a series of short-lived bands throughout his teens and twenties, he decided to work solo. Again merging elements of hip-hop with guitar-based instrumentation, and citing songwriters such as Sufjan Stevens , Owen , and (Sandy) Alex G among his inspirations, he started using the moniker nothing, nowhere. in April 2015. At first, Mulherin kept his identity hidden, covering his face in promotional photos and making a habit of wearing hoods while performing. His first album, the nothing, nowhere. lp, appeared in June 2015, followed by the EP Bummer later the same year. Working on some of the tracks with producers he'd met on music-sharing sites, the latter was recorded in his parents' basement in Vermont around the time he committed to pursuing music full-time. The EP Who Are You? followed on Synergy Records in early 2016, and in 2017, the album Reaper arrived on DCD2 and Equal Vision Records . It featured appearances by Dashboard Confessional and Lil West and raised Mulherin's profile significantly.

After signing with Fueled by Ramen , nothing, nowhere. released his third full-length, 2018's Ruiner. He returned the following year with bloodlust, a collaborative EP with drummer Travis Barker that included a featured spot by blackbear . In early 2020, nothing, nowhere. issued the single "Nightmare" just prior to kicking off a lengthy world tour. A longtime vegan, straight edge, and conservationist, Mulherin used the shows to promote green touring and partnered with local environmental charities along the way. That July, DCD2 and Fueled by Ramen issued One Takes, Vol. 1, a collection of stripped-down versions of his songs that he had been sharing on social media. Vol. 1 selections included a second version of "Nightmare" and a cover of American Football 's "Never Meant." Later that month, the new song "Lights (4444)" appeared, and by the end of 2020, multiple songs had been shared from his upcoming long-player Trauma Factory. The album was released in February of 2021. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi

I loved his concert so much. He did it with Wage War and Spite and it was just so amazing to finally see the artist that I've been listening to for my whole life. I'm still not over it and can't wait for him to come back🤧

    N,N

by Jake on 4/10/23Bowery Ballroom - New York

Nothing,Nowhere put on the best show and invited the best openers. Dude was so good, it was my first time seeing him live. I would recommend anyone to go see N,N. Doesn’t matter what genre you’re into, he incorporates rock, rap, metal, just everything. I met people who never even liked metal or rock and they said they came just for the experience and left falling in love with his music and performance style. All of the fan base I met are just so loving towards N,N. I hope he continues to receive love and get the recognition publicly that he’s comfortable with getting and truly deserves. I’m going back again and again

    Amazing show

by Nas on 4/10/23Bowery Ballroom - New York

He is one of the artists who truly cares for his fans, and takes the time to talk to us and listen to our stories of how his music has helped us in our lives. He takes the time to take pictures with us before and after his shows. I love the music he creates, the vibes from his shows as well, and i’ve met so many awesome people while waiting on the line, so grateful to find him.

    Horrible.

    by J. S. on 4/10/23

Lip syncing, instruments playing while nobody playing (fake tracks) the place was 1/4 full. Hands down the worse concert I've been to in three years, and I've been to over 40, almost half being in the same venue. I didn't even want to see them, but I got stuck with the tickets after they booted my band off the tour, which was why everyone I know was going to actually go. I sat there and playing Pokemon Go out of boredom.

Not Great, YouTube for N,N was better.

by A Person on 4/9/23Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) Capitol Room - Harrisburg

Main act was Lip sync'd pretty much the entire time, guitars playing while nobody was strumming, just a joke. Drums were really good though. So bored I played PokĂŠmon Go for something to do. Second act had way too much talking on stage, while most of it was garbled through the PA... it was more than half of their stage time. When they were performing it was pretty good. Opening and 1st act was on the stage then off. It seemed like it took 5 minutes, it was so fast, I don't remember a single thing about them. The security there didn't seem too trilled about it either, but they're used to the new Drag Queen shows as it is. We originally bought the tickets to see Omerta. Omerta SMARTLY dropped out. Unfortunately, we were stuck with the tickets because the house was like 1/4 full and they refused refunds. Waist of time. Were thinking of getting tickets for Chelsea Grin later this month, at the same place... wondering if we should take the chance now. I went to HMAC 14 times last summer, every concert was awesome including Sevendust and All the Remains. I hope this isn't a new way things are done.
