This was a lot of fun!

    by JeanieJ on 10/3/23

I never fail to be amazed at all the negative comments about Hostfest from my fellow seniors. Of course it is not going to be the same from year to year! Things need to change and grow to make them better! I loved all the vendors and the music. I particularly loved all the school kids running around and soaking in the culture. This is how this festival keeps going. Keep an eye to the future. Oh, and I liked the loud music too!!

    Great

by Fuzzy on 10/2/23North Dakota State Fair Center - Minot

It was a great time, shows were great- chairs are still hard to sit on for a long time thou. Also we were at a show and they sent a lot of people up in the bleachers that had canes- when they had lots of empty chairs on the floor- was it necessary for the old people with canes stuggling to get up those steps-Hope that improves for next year- food was great too.

    Disappointing

by Disappointed on 10/2/23North Dakota State Fair Center - Minot

Great variety of booths, vendors, food, activities, and music. But this was not worth Ticketmaster prices for just getting in the door and not attending any performance.

    Lots of Hits. Two Misses

by Squarehead2023 on 10/2/23North Dakota State Fair Center - Minot

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire event. We were there every day. Bought a lot of great crafts. Went to all of the shows I think. The only two disappointments were that they didn’t include the song for the Space Force when they were performing the songs for the other military branches. And no lapskaus either. We had Finnish stew however which was ok.

    Worth the trip

by JFArnesen on 9/30/23North Dakota State Fair Center - Minot

Traveled from Florida to experience Hostfest after reading about it online. It was well worth the trip. Awesome shows. A good variety of Scandinavian foods, arts, and crafts, to enjoy.

    2022 Hostfest

by J. T. on 10/5/22All Seasons Arena - North Dakota State Fair - Minot

Parking sucked; charge $5 for parking and then make people walk. This did improve somewhat each day. When leaving, I did find shuttles waiting each day. Luckily weather was warm as riding in a golf cart on a cold day would not be good. Offer the 4 day event for $149 it should be $149 not jump to $176 with additional charges and then later offer it for $99, really? I missed the accordions playing throughout the festival as well as some of the cultural events that used to be there. I liked my seat in the great hall as well as the 1:00 entertainment all 4 days. Food was good. There is room for improvement, but not too bad for first year running this festival.

    Disappointed

by C. G. on 10/4/22All Seasons Arena - North Dakota State Fair - Minot

We purchased night gala passes. We walked out of 3 of the 4 concerts. The music was so loud you couldn’t understand what they were singing. We should have been informed that these concerts were for a young crowd. Things have changed at Hostfest . We wouldn’t have purchased these ticket and some type of refund would have been appropriate.

    Not Returning

by Joni on 10/4/22All Seasons Arena - North Dakota State Fair - Minot

There were 3 shows worth attending this year. We drove 900 miles round trip and we’re very disappointed this year!

Went to ALL 1:00 and 8:00 concerts.

by Tried to enjoy on 10/4/22All Seasons Arena - North Dakota State Fair - Minot

Daniel O'Donnell, Clint Black, Texas Tenors, and The Killer Vees were Excellent. The rest of the Great Hall performers were way TOO LOUD. We had to walk out to save our hearing. It seemed like the Host Fest had turned into a "Beer Fest" for the younger generation. Some Free Stages were so loud it was hard to visit with the vendors. We never did get to see the Viking Village. $5 for every entry to park prevented us from ever leaving to go downtown. There was not enough handicap parking. That was a long way to walk from the parking area. Especially for our handicap friend. Food choices were good, but $4.00 or even $2.75 for a bottle of water was ridiculous. We have attended Host Fest for many years. I am happy you are trying to bring it back and have asked for our impute. Keep making it better. If these issues are addressed, we will return to Host Fest 2023.
