About

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS IN CONCERT:

Following the 2009 dissolution of pioneering Britpop band Oasis, primary songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher didn't give fans any time to lament his split from brother and longtime collaborator Liam. Instead he hit the ground running with his solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, a harder-edged continuation of his work with the late great band. Since then Noel has proven himself quite the frontman, impressing audiences around the globe with rollicking performances of tunes like "Dream On" and "Do the Damage". He throws in a few classic Oasis numbers like "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Supersonic" for good measure, ensuring fans both old and new get to rock out to their favorite jams.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Noel Gallagher was born and raised in Manchester, England, where he had a fairly turbulent childhood. He picked up the guitar in his teens as a way to pass time while on probation for robbing a corner shop, imitating the songs he heard on the radio before moving on to songs of his own. He was expelled from high school at 15 and worked various construction jobs before striking up a friendship with Manchester band Inspiral Carpets and joining them as a roadie. Upon returning from the group's US tour he joined his brother Liam's band The Rain, a psych-tinged rock outfit that would eventually become Oasis. Noel and Liam made their debut as Oasis in 1994 with the album Definitely Maybe, a critical and commercial success that topped the UK Albums charts and spawned four popular singles. Their sophomore album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was an even bigger smash, topping charts around the world thanks to instant classics like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova". All told, the band reached No. 1 in the UK with all seven of their albums before long-simmering fraternal tensions drove the brothers apart in 2009. Noel lost little time continuing his rock reign -- in 2010 he formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing a self-titled debut album to the top of the British charts the following year. With their sophomore album Chasing Yesterday generating buzz in 2015, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their next round on the road.

    It was pretty good

    by Narragansett 1957 on 8/1/23

I did not know Metric was playing till the night of the show. They played an excellent set with a lot of energy, the best of the night. I've always liked Garbage a lot, and have seen them about a half-dozen times. My only criticism is they always use guitar amp simulators instead of the real thing, and to me it always has that hollow sound that takes away a lot of the impact of their songs. They need to use tube amps! Noel Gallagher played a very enjoyable set. It's clear he has a lot of talent, but he really needs to bite the bullet and get back with Oasis because that band was truly magical!

    The Chief Doing Chief Things

    by Dave L on 7/30/23

My fourth time seeing NGHFB and they don’t disappoint. Though it was a bit shorter set because they were co-headlining with Garbage, Noel and Co. gave a stellar performance of HFB tunes and a handful of Oasis classics. Noel continues to evolve musically and seeing him live only emphasizes his songwriting prowess and ability to recreate his tunes in alive setting. Don’t miss him if come nearby.

    Love Noel

    by Allison on 7/24/23

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds isn't an act with frills or theatrics, just excellent songs performed beautifully. The whole band is great, and Noel's voice still sounds amazing :) He's really come into his own as a solo artist.

Garbage Great, Noel, not so much

    by DogMom on 7/24/23

Garbage was great, took a little bit for the crowd to get into it. Opening act was fun. Noel Gallagher is a little overrated. He made classless jokes and didn’t introduce the band or thank us for being there. Poor performance. Didn’t sing most popular songs and a short set overall. I don’t recommend seeing him live.

Garbage and Metric and some other guy...

    by dbcoyle on 7/23/23

Garbage and Metric should be doing their own tour. Period. 1/2 of Oasis guys was a horrible fit. Garbage and Metric were amazing, and I hope they team up for their own tour and shows. Amazing. (Note: About 1/2 the crowd left after 2nd NG song, as did I..) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Bands great, your transparency not

    by Jason on 7/20/23

Please be specific on order of appearance and start times! (versus door opening times). We missed the first band. Also order of appearance changed and someone driving 2 hours missed the band they wanted to see. Be transparent! These times are known as they are in the venues contracts!

    Fabulous Venue, Great Performances

    by AidoJC on 7/19/23

First time at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, easily one of the best indoor venue I've been to, and the staff were amazing. Metric were great, Garbage were high-energy with Shirley in great form, and Noel Gallagher and the High Flying Birds were amazing. A great gig!

What was played was great but as a headliner I expect more than 1hr and 5 minutes. Play more of your stuff with and without HFB. Still a big fan!

    Came for Garbage

    by Maria on 7/18/23

Metric and Garbage were top notch! I left before the high flying birds (not a fan) the venue was cool, nice indoor venue on a hot humid Boston day. Loved it!
