The 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic is set to feature the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers. Including that game, there have been 37 regular-season outdoor games played to date, attended by 1,851,642 fans. The Flames-Oilers outdoor matchup will mark the seventh NHL Heritage Classic, which includes the inaugural game in Edmonton (2003), as well as games in Calgary (2011), Vancouver (2014), Winnipeg (2016), Regina (2019) and Hamilton (2022).

Great game experience. Everything else Fail

by Kel on 11/9/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game was great and the atmosphere was fun. The concert was short and wish they would have darkened the field and made it more like a concert. Three songs were not enough with one not even being Nickelbacks. Getting in & out of the venue was horrible. Trying to get a drink, food or going to the bathroom was miserable. The LRT was terrible.

    Venue needs improvements

by Dustin on 11/7/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game itself and entertainment were great. The venue needs massive improvements to handle that many people. It was impossible to get off of the stairs and onto the concourse during the intermission as there was a literal wall of bodies. There were no formal queues for the concessions which led to a massive muddled blob of people blocking the majority of the available concourse space. Poorly placed merchandise and 50 50, beer etc made it even worse

    So much fun! But ...

by Craeanne on 11/7/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game and the experience was great. However... a few things could use improving. 1. The line ups to get into common wealth were absolutely insane. 2. I think part of the reason was the "smaller than a postcard"purse rule. No one was really made aware until we got there. People were ABANDONING their purses on fence posts. It was pure insanity. And no real reason ... still had to go through metal detector. So why this game? Why now? This was a huge hold up. 3. As is normal with the outdoor games, the ice surface is so Itty bitty when up in football stands. (I'm putting this here solely for the sake of complaining ... while understanding that this is just ... the way it is) but... to this point... 4. It would have been nice to have more screens around the stadium

Lots of Fun when you weren't busy standing in line

by Nay on 11/4/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

It was a fun family experience as there was 16 of us adults who went! BUT more time was spent standing in line for the bathrooms and the concessions than sitting in the seats! Not good!! Some family members went to the concessions at the first intermission and didn't get back to their seats until only 3 mins remaining in the 2nd period. They lost a lot of beer sales because of the line ups....when you pay that much for a ticket you actually want to see the game.

Good but ticket prices not fair for some.

by Loilty guy on 11/4/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

rink placement was not shown correctly in sale. Price did not reflect the change. Event was great but ticket cost distribution was not great.

    Poor flow and disorganized

by Edmfan on 11/3/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

After the 30 - 45 min line outside,(3 hours before puck drop) the flow inside the building was horrendous, took us until 5:15 to get to our seats, since we decided to go what seems like the quickest route to find out the blocked it off unless you were buying merch. So back the other way we go. To get bottle necked by another merch booth to the point there was no movement in the line for 20 min. Should have had a better plan for merch booths not being by entrances. Also, the food ran out. Weak in my opinion stood in line for 25 min to get to the front to find out the only thing they had left was some stale nachos. Only bonus was the fact the Oilers actually managed to win.

Great event needed some more planning

by Monni on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Everything was good until we got to the site there was almost no communication outside to let people know where to enter Security was slow and information prior to the event was very poor about allowable items. Our group didn’t have any issues but saw lots that did.
