About

About The Salt Lake City Stars

NBA G League action is taking Salt Lake City by storm with the Salt Lake City Stars, the developmental affiliate of the Utah Jazz. The Stars name is a tribute to two historic pro basketball teams, who previously represented the Beehive State: the Utah Stars of the American Basketball Association and the Utah Starzz of the WNBA. The Stars play in the Southwest Division of the NBA G League, against their division rivals the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Austin Spurs and the Texas Legends.

The Salt Lake City Stars play out of the 5,000-seat Lifetime Activities Center-Bruin Arena in Taylorsville, Utah, on the Taylorsville Redwood campus of Salt Lake Community College. The Stars also play select games at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, home of their parent club, the Utah Jazz. Austrian-born head coach Martin Schiller had a long and successful career as an assistant in both Austria and Germany, before joining the Stars in 2017.

Prior to moving to Salt Lake in 2016, the Stars had two decades of success in the Continental Basketball Association and the NBA D League as the Idaho Stampede. The Stampede transferred from the CBA to the NBA D League in 2006, and completed their move to Utah after the Jazz purchased the franchise in 2015. The Stampede won three conference titles: in 2003 while with the CBA, and in 2007 and 2008 as part of the D League, winning the D League Championship in 2007. Future Utah Utes men's basketball head coach Larry Krystkowiak ended his playing career and began his head coaching career with the Stampede, and such notable players as Spud Webb, Rafer Alston, Allen Crabbe, 2003-04 CBA MVP Josh Davis, 2004-05 CBA MVP Sam Clancy and 2006-07 D League MVP Randy Livingston played for the Stampede. Fun

    by Austin White on 11/15/23

Attended my first Stars game. I had fun despite the loss. The staff is professional and the layout of the arena is easy. I particularly like the fact that it is mainly open seating. I will go again

    Family fun

by Bobby on 2/3/20 Lifetime Activities Center - Taylorsville

It was easy to get into. Free parking. There is a kids zone to let your kids have some fun.you can easily see your child from any spot on the bleachers. Stars put on a great game always. The price is great, even for a large family. We will be going to many more in the future.

    Great and entertaining

by Bkbracken on 1/28/20Vivint Smart Home Arena - Salt Lake City

The entire experience was great. From the will call people being friendly and helpful to the seats themselves. We had great seats, closest we have ever been in Vivent Smarthome arena. We loved going to the Stars game.

    Stars Shined

by Kiriaki on 3/25/19 Lifetime Activities Center - Taylorsville

What a fun, family-oriented, and friendly time did my group have. Excellent experience. Stars team players were so accommodating with autographs. Nice WIN, too. Grayson Allen needs to grow up, though. Not a good role model.

    Don’t sit on row 1

by Wakefield92 on 1/19/19 Lifetime Activities Center - Taylorsville

Luckily the game wasn’t super crowded so we could move to a higher row. Overall was a fun time. For 10 bucks it is worth the money. I got my favorite player in college last year to sign my jersey I had of him! Extremely nice guy too! Would recommend going again

    Great Game!

by Anonymous on 11/27/17 Lifetime Activities Center - Taylorsville

I always have a great time at G League games! You get to see high level play for such a low price. Parking is good, getting in the door is easy, and it is never a problem getting to your seat. I enjoyed watching the Stars and Spurs, and I am looking forward to coming back soon!
