great movies, no room to breathe

by squish on 3/5/24Paramount Theatre - Denver

The movies were great! The venue didn't allow room to wiggle your toes or sqeeze by others as there was barely enough room to put your feet on the floor. I wasn't sure I could sit like that, but I managed by untying my shoes to wiggle my toes. The seating made airline seating seem very roomy. I was in the orchestra center section. I wouldn't sit there again.

Love Banff, the venue not so much

by Victor on 3/5/24Paramount Theatre - Denver

I've been going to the Banff World Tour for maybe 14 years. I love it. But the Paramount needs some thoughtful updates. The toilets are insufficient for the crowds, the balcony and mezzanine seats are very uncomfortable (tall folks simply don't have enough room), and the sound was awful. The bass levels were so high it made the film narrations nearly unintelligible. On the plus side, they've really figured out how to get people into the venue while dealing with the security issues.

    Adventure unveiled through others

by Elle on 2/13/24State Theatre - Portland

Amazing experiences by regular people! Fun to watch. Probably won’t do it. But it does get the active life on the agenda!

Compared to prior years , weak.

For the price, will not go again. A waste of time and money.

Too expensive to be this uninspiring

    by TentCamper2 on 9/12/23Liberty Hall - Lawrence

We went to Liberty Hall in Lawrence KS on Saturday Sept 9. Four tickets @ $15 each turned into $90.45 after the service charges; really? Maybe ten films shown; two were 40 minutes long and the rest were < 15 minutes long. The kayaking film was the best. The rest were political or art films, and we left totally uninspired to do anything in the outdoors. We've seen great films before, and I'm sure they exist in the Banff film festival catalog. My advice is to skip the in-person showings, and stream only the films that you want to see from the Banff film festival website.

We've been attending the Banff film festival for 15 years. This was one of the best.

not as entertaining as in the past

by Bill on 4/19/23The Reno Ballroom - Reno

The selection of the movies this year were not as good as in past years. No skiing or mountaineering movies? Nothing really funny? Multiple kayaking films. Sort of run of the mill outdoor movies.

Always a great group of films!

by Chuck on 2/14/23State Theatre - Portland

No matter your taste or interest, there will always be films that you will enjoy and will stick with you forever....(considering I have vivid memories of films from 20 years ago).

    Good, but slipped a bit

by Tacoma Hiker on 12/16/22Pantages Theater - Tacoma

Banff films are always extremely well done and off a good mix of Warren Miller-esque extreme inspiration and thoughtful glimpses to the story behind the story. This year was no exception. But I left feeling a bit flat. The same characters appeared in two different films which seems unusual given the total universe of possibilities. And the human interest segments over-reached a bit into the politically correct “preachy” realm. I’ll still being going back next year but will be hoping for more variety and less activism.
