A host of incredibly talented craftspeople!

by Sarah M on 10/25/23Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

This is an amazing event with an amazing variety of highly skilled craftspeople from the Southern mountainous region. The quality of workmanship was amazing, I particularly loved the silversmithing (jewellery) but my companions loved the woodworking, weaving and art. It really is a must if you are visiting Asheville when it is due, stay a few extra days if you need to!

    Meh...

by Antony on 10/24/23Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

The artists and artisans were, as always very good. However, it seems as though the event wasn't as plethoric as in the past, nor perhaps with presenters as as unique as previously. Maybe it's just us old folks aging. A turn off was ticketmaster charging 60% of the box office price to purchase on line. Instead of 10 bucks at the door, it was over 160% of that! If you consider you might be getting a deal - the online ticket price was $9 - you actually ended up paying nearly 80% more for that privilege. Never again, Ticketmaster - next year, at the door!

    Shrinking

by Gilge on 10/22/23Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

The number of booths has shrunk considerably I assume that the booth fee is too much for artists to do the show Attendance is off There is an item I would have liked to go back for but I’m not paying an admission charge again Many prices are too high for me to even consider

    A Little Lacking in Variety

by Jen on 7/25/22Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

This was our first time attending this event, and we had high expectations since previous years' events were online. But with approx. 80 vendors, we were expecting a greater variety of arts presented. It felt like 40% of the vendors offered furniture, 30% ceramic work, 20% jewelry and the remaining 10% was made up of the really interesting stuff: musical instruments, clothing, etc. In retrospect, the event's proximity to interior design vendors is likely why this event is comprised of the same type of merchandise. But this would have been an opportunity to break out of those confines and offer attendees more interesting choices.

    Wonderful, well organized show!

by B.W.S on 10/29/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

Easy parking, efficient entry process, large number of diverse exhibitors and talents. The ceramics were stellar, as was the woodworking and sculpture. Artists were friendly and engaging. Made several purchases. I'll be back!

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands

by MS on 10/20/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

A lot less vendors than the last time we went (I'm blaming COVID), plus way too many jewelry vendors. A little variety would help. Oh, also a booth was selling stuff that was definitely not hand made or hand crafted. It was a bunch of imported junk that I've seen before when my company has gone to buyer's marts.

    Disappointing

    by N. B. on 10/17/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

Too many jewelry and wood artists .... although they were all good. Not enough pottery & glass, no metal at all. I like to see all media for fully represented.

    Long on Jewelry

by Tom on 10/17/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

The overall quality of the Fair was as I anticipated. I was surprised that there seemed to be a dominance of jewelry and fewer displays of pottery or woodwork. It was not until I got to the lower level that I found much in the way of woodwork. A related matter is that Ticketmaster's sales process was most confusing; too much emphasis on getting tickets on the phone and it proved impossible to get a simple paper ticket. The ticketing challenges that I faced will doubtless be a deterrent to me for another activity such as the Craft Fair.

    Disappointed

by Bridgeman on 10/17/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - Asheville

Considering the cost of this event, it was not worth the money. Way too few artists--less than 100. Have seen more and as good at many local art festivals in Western North Carolina. Mainly jewelry which was also a disappointment. Expected greater variety. Do not plan to attend in the future.
