NETSKY IN CONCERT:

Not to be confused with his computer virus namesake, Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky has been turning the game on its head with his live realizations of the genre's traditionally DJ’d sounds. Tracks like "Come Alive" and "Love Has Gone" take on new depth when performed live by Netsky and his talented band, and fans hungry for more after his 2013 tour are in luck — Netsky returns to North America in 2014 for a handful of sought after club dates that are sure to get hearts — and feet — racing.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

In just five short years, Belgian-born drum and bass wunderkind Netsky has risen from young D'n'B upstart to one of the most exciting artists in the genre. Since signing to Hospital Records 2009, he has steadily climbed the ranks, becoming a veritable star in his native country and gaining a cult following overseas with bangers like "Moving With You" and "Give and Take." His liquid funk style of drum and bass emphasizes intricate instrumental layering and prominent vocals, making it well-suited for live performance — a fact he takes excellent advantage of with his signature live shows featuring a full backing band.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Too epic for words. I lost my head throughout most of the show. Long live Netsky!"

"There are no words that can describe how amazing this experience was! A live band playing liquid DnB!!! The energy of a live band playing EDM felt different in a very positive way!"

"The music was phenomenal and it was really cool to see his music played live rather than 'DJ'd.'"

    Totally Epic Electronic

by SyphDaMagnificient on 12/13/14Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Drove 4 hours to Columbus to see Netsky since he has never come near detroit. The venue looks like it could hold close to 1,000 people... it's a little run down and mostly concretey looking (the newport music hall). Doors were at 7. We got there at 9 and Netsky was taking the stage.... well, his band was taking the stage. It was pretty cool. A drummer, Keyboardist, MC, and Netsky all making everything live on the spot. Plus, he brought out a live vocalist too. Leaps and bounds better than most of the "EDM" out there and their "just press play" live sets. The crowd was tiny. I was embarrassed. Literally one of the most talented electronic artists in the world, and there were maybe 120 people there. But those of us there definitely through down. The stupid thing with the venue... place is almost empty, yet the line at the bar is like 10 minutes long. Throw on another bartender clowns! I gave up since I was missing the show, and you (the venue) lost out on my money. Here's the thing... with Electronic, you generally expect longer sets stretching to near 2 hours. This one was wrapped up in about 80 minutes and we were out the door before 1030. i wish that he would have had another opener or 2 so the night could have been extended. Or an after party... or something! We drove all the way to Columbus, and then when we are totally fired up and ready to party... there's nothing to do. But I can't fade Netsky... this was epic.. he didn't even need a light show.

    Netsky @ Howard Theatre

by onelesslight on 4/13/13Howard Theatre - Washington

Commuting to and parking at the venue was great. The venue itself was very nice. It was a little unclear when we arrived whether we should line up or not; a sign or bouncers telling us to wait inside or out for early arrivals would be nice in the future. The stage and surrounds were nice and clean. The drinks were slightly expensive ($10 per mixed drink compared to $7-$8 at other local clubs I've been to) but you got about the same amount. Beers were fine. Most of the first act (Malphunktion and others) was enjoyable. I didn't enjoy DJ Codes until he played Get Free because that's not a style I enjoy and his style didn't fit well with Netsky. In fact, none of the DJs were very similar to Netsky. You come expecting Netsky's drum and bass, there should be opening acts to match, imho. Doors opened at 9 pm but Netsky started at 12:30 pm. I know there are always opening acts, but this was unclear on their site and I feel they went on too long. Our feet were getting tired by this point. Also, right under the front center floor by the stage was a trap door that bounced and seemed like it was going to collapse. Overall a good event however, and like I said, the main event was awesome.

I just expected for Netsky to play a little longer, and not just like hour and a half. Also I expected more people but i guess he isn't so popular here like in europe

    Terrible. Just Terrible.

by DJLivewire on 4/13/13Howard Theatre - Washington

First DJ played a mix of house and D&B. Many of his transitions were awful but I'd still give him an average rating because he did play some D&B which is why we were there to begin with. He played for 2 hrs (9-11). This was a Thursday night and an all ages event. Netsky should have come on at 10:30 at the LATEST. Next was DJ Codes and he was terrible. He played a mix of trap and house. The speakers at Howard were rattling the entire time. Codes was poor and played until 12:45. 12:45!!! Some people were so exhausted from the waiting that they felt the need to start doing lines of coke off the tables. It was an awful sight. Finally Netsky comes out with his hypeman and pretty much just played his CD. Strike 1: Bad Openers Strike 2: Show starts at 8 and you come on close to 1pm on a Thursday Night Strike 3: Play your CD.

Good but def didn't get money's worth!

by aslelbiashsaorn on 4/8/13The Fonda Theatre - Los Angeles

Show was amazing however I was really disappointed that he was only on for 1 hr and show was over by 12:30! For $40 I expect more. It wasn't a club gig.

The performance was great but too short. The show being live was the best and just think the event could have been just a little longer for the price of the tickets.
