    UnHappy

by F. R. on 1/17/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

My daughter and wife love the movie so I got the tickets for my daughter's birthday,. She was so happy until 15 minutes into the play. This was not what we expected. The performers were all great but the play was not good. I expected the classic music that came with this play not 80 music manipulated to this performance. It would be like seeing Phantom of the Opera singing Motown.

Everything you could ever wish for in a Broadway musical!

by Dr. Bob on 1/15/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Mourn Rouge knocks it out if the Park! So much better than the movie! Incredible singing, dancing, sets, costumes, orchestration. Fantastic performances from performers at the top of their game. Was delighted to see Ashley Loren in the role of Satine-I have to see Karen Olivo in the role too! So imaginative how pop songs and lyrics were woven into the story and used for the musical numbers. Aaron Tveit, Ricky Rojas, Sahr Ngaujah are also phenomenal! Can’t wait to see it again!

    Theatrical spectacle at its best

by Amy on 1/14/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Gorgeous to look at. Fabulous performances. Clever music mashups. Amazing choreography. Truth, beauty , freedom, love! Theater as theater. Very enjoyable. I know, she dies. So does Mimi in Boheme and Violetta in Traviata. It’s ok . It’s still wonderful!

    Delicious

by Bill on 1/14/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Moulin Rouge is a delicious pastiche of a musical, assembled impeccably, and delightfully, presented by a terrific slate of talented performers. It continues to swirl me in reveries. A must see. It was the third time to revisit for my companion, and probably not his last!

    Eh!

by E. on 1/13/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

I didn’t expect to hear contemporary music the costumes were a bit raunchy for my taste and a star that I counted on seeing was on medical leave. Waste of time and money

    J’adore

by L. B. on 1/12/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Omg, this is the best stage show I have ever seen. We love love loved it, as good if not better than the film. A lot of our favourite songs were in it and also a lot of new ones which brought it up to date a bit. Would not hesitate to go back and see it again. Xx

    A fun show

by Jo on 1/12/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

It was really cool as far as tech and story and everyone was SUPER talented but I felt like there were a lot of songs used. It’s a jukebox musical with about 40 songs in the span of a two and a half hour show so just be prepared. It was a fun time though so I’m not super mad about it.

Moulin is a must for big number lovers

by Reviews rarely on 1/12/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Moulin Rouge was even better than anticipated. I love the movie and was skeptical about the musical as I had heard the music was different. The same songs are used but more have been added! The ensemble carried the show and were truly amazing. This is a show that is entertiaining and the dancing is unbelievable. As far as the acting and thought provoking aspect- I think you need to see the movie to fully understand as there are definite gaps in the script. The leads in my opinion we’re the weakest aspect of the show. Having said that- I would see it again!

Second act not entertaining or engaging. Dancing not imaginative. The after show performance was trite.

Amazing - But Wish I Knew Beforehand..

by NYC Mom on 1/12/20Al Hirschfeld Theatre - New York

Moulin Rouge Was Amazing! Karen Olivio is powerful, Aaron Tviet is so dreamy and charming.. both such amazing voices and emotional and fun to watch. Along with the whole talented cast, I enjoyed the show and would recommend to friends! But I wish I knew beforehand that so many current pop songs would be incorporated into the show’s dialogue. Compared to the movie, this gave the show a modern vibe that I wasn’t prepared for - so it took me the first half to get used to. Think of some numbers as a mix of Glee & Pitch Perfect, but with way better dancing! A couple numbers might seem too much like watching karaoke to some folks. Beautiful set and choreography - lots to enjoy.
