About

The Montgomery Biscuits are a Minor League Baseball team based in Montgomery, Alabama. The team plays in the Southern League, which is a Double-A affiliate league. The Biscuits' official colors are butter and blue and they have two official mascots, "Big Mo," a lively orange creature with a strong affinity for biscuits, and "Monty" the buttermilk biscuit. The team has served as a developmental team for the Tampa Bay Rays since 1999.

The Biscuits play their home games at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium, which is located in the downtown area of Montgomery. The stadium can accommodate up to 7,000 fans and was built specifically for the Biscuits. Much to the enjoyment of the attending fans, actual biscuits are shot from an air cannon into the stands during home games. This is a nod to the team's unique nickname.

The Biscuits have achieved notable success throughout their history. In 2006, just their third year of existence, the Biscuits won their first Southern League championship in Montgomery. They went on to win their second consecutive championship the next year in 2007, becoming the first team since the 1975-1977 Montgomery Rebels to win back-to-back championships.

Before moving to Montgomery, the team was known as the Orlando Twins, the SunRays, Cubs, and Rays. The team moved to Montgomery in 2004 and became known as the Biscuits. The team's owners, Sherrie Myers and Tom Dickson, selected the team's nickname from over 4,000 entries in a "name the team" contest.

The Biscuits have had several players who have gone on to play in Major League Baseball, including Evan Longoria, David Price, and Scott Kazmir.
