MODERAT IN CONCERT:
IDM supergroup Moderat bring the digital into the physical at their extraordinary live shows. Consistently ranked among electronic music's best live acts, the trio envelop concertgoers at their otherworldly performances, employing an arsenal of unique controller instruments and mindblowing visuals to create a first-class sensorial experience. Moderat floored at their 2013 shows, building excitement for select North American tour dates in 2014.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Comprised of Apparat and Modeselektor — both acclaimed electronic outfits in their own right — Berlin-based Moderat made their debut in 2002 with the Auf Kosten der Gesundheit EP. Due to creative differences, seven years would pass before an album hit shelves, but it was worth the wait — the trio's 2009 self-titled debut was a critical success, leading to extensive touring and a growing reputation as one of the best live acts in electronic music. Following the release of sophomore album II in 2013, Moderat once again hit the road for another series of acclaimed live shows.
Loved the venue, bar, and especially the Moderat show!
Amazing concert. The energy rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was one of the best concerts I’ve had. Performance was absolutely fantastic. Sounds, light and visuals were great too. Unbelievable night!
This supergroup is the one you have to go see. Great performers, amazing atmosphere and beautiful sound. Can’t wait to see them again
Excellent visual, nice concert. I would say it was a bit short but just ok for a Monday night. Amazing venue, very safe and organized
Moderat exceeded by expectations. They were even better live. It was a shame that not more people attended but that made it even better for those that did. My only comments for potential improvement: 1. Share who the opener is and what time they perform. If the opener was advertised too that might have built in some enthusiasm to catch that person too. 2. Doors were at 7 PM and Moderat did not take the stage until 9 PM. Knowing that would have allowed more time to do other things in the city or even just to rest at the hotel. 3. There was a strict bag policy posted on the Fillmore's site that Live Nation shared. I arrived with a bag that adhered to those rules to find out that was not a rule that they actually followed. It felt risky to be in downtown Detroit with a clear bag that displayed my ID, CC, my hotel key and my phone and then quite upsetting to learn that was even necessary.
My only complaint is that I wish it lasted twice as long! I don't know how you could really ask them to be anything more than what they are. The performance was spectacular. If you get a chance to see them on this tour, do it.
My friend in Poland introduced me to this band. And I have to say they put on a great show. So happy to have seen them during their US tour.
An absolutely masterful set from incredible artists; full of emotion, fun, beauty, and rusty nails.
Vocals were a little quiet- sound was generally off balance. The pit was too full to dance and really enjoy. Overall the show (visuals, style, etc) was VERY similar to when I saw them 5 years ago. Was hoping for something a little different.
