Michelle Obama on Tour
Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama is no stranger to the public eye. The Chicago native maintained a highly visible presence throughout husband Barack Obama's two terms as President of the United States, and was comfortable in any situation: serving as an international ambassador, visiting schools, or moving and grooving at a Beyoncé concert. Like other first ladies, Obama is also using her post-White House time to make a difference in the world. A galvanizing speaker known for her down-to-earth delivery and real-talk approach, she embarked on a book tour in support of her 2018 memoir, ‘Becoming,' with appearances full of storytelling and conversation.
About Michelle Obama
Born in Chicago, Michelle Obama grew up in a loving household that prioritized family and education. Accordingly, she holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton and a law degree from Harvard. Although Obama did practice law—in fact, she met future husband and President of the United States Barack Obama while working at a firm—she also held multiple private-sector jobs. Most notably, she was the founding executive director of the Chicago branch of Public Allies, a nonprofit focused on cultivating leadership in younger generations.
As First Lady of the United States for eight years starting in 2009, Obama continued to seek out socially conscious causes that benefit the greater good. She championed women's rights and education for girls; became a vocal supporter of military families and spouses; and promoted healthy eating via multiple initiatives, including the "Let's Move!" campaign to decrease childhood obesity. Since leaving the White House, she's continued to be an outspoken advocate for gender equality, education, and political diversity. More recently, she released her second book, the 2018 memoir ‘Becoming,' which follows 2012's New York Times best seller ‘American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America.'
Absolutely wonderful event!!!!!!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in hearing more about Michelle’
It was entertaining and very informative. I loved the interaction between Oprah and Ms. Obama. Michelle was absolutely wonderful and real. Appreciated her honesty. Love the whole interview. Didn’t want it to end.
Michelle and Oprah were outstanding!! Very engaging. I was hanging onto every word!
My experience was outstanding, it started with a D J that knew what music to play to get us dancing. I was on the second row & being so close to stage made it even BETTER ! Former First Lady Michelle Obama made you feel like I was sitting at her kitchen table & a friend. Because of Oprah Winfrey profession she knew exactly what to ask Michelle Obama. They were the perfect pair & Michelle Obama was so honest about what she was saying & you could feel it. The next day I was still feeling Wonderful from the experience that I had being there with Michelle Obama & Oprah Winfrey. They both was looking GOOD !!!
It was an excellent opportunity for sharing motivation for women of today, through aacknowledgment that successful women experience depression.
Michelle and Oprah were a perfect pair and shared Michelle's book in such a wonderful way! It was informative, humorous, thought-provoking and motivational. Loved it!
I did not know Oprah Winfrey would be the presenter of Michelle Obama. Both shared vunderbilities that were heart warming and inspirational. So many youth experiences and photographs of Michelle Obama's child were reminiscent of my own. As a Black woman child I was consistently reminded that I was Black and I didn't have the freedom to think and believe out of the box.
Michelle was fantastic. However, a free book should have been included with the ticket but was not. When we got in line, we were told they didn’t have any books left.
This was the BEST EVENT! Michelle O and Oprah made it fun and inclusive. It wasn’t just a show to watch. They included the audience as if it was a bunch of friends sitting around and chatting. The opening DJ also made the night special.
Wonderful event, loved Michelle and Oprah! First time at You Tube, though; not impressed. Bad or no signage for entry gates/lines; too cold in theater; at end of event the forum was also letting out and we were in a traffic mess for an hour. The electronic tickets for the event and the parking worked great. Ticketmaster app and emails were much appreciated!
An amazing experience. Black excellence at its finest.
This was so cool and to have Oprah also - 2 queens for the price of one. Very engaging and down to earth just like regular people but royal
This was my first time at the YouTube Theatre. So much energy. Michelle was so transparent and an awesome Best show ever!!!
I'm a first timer coming to YouTube Theater and not familiar with the area. I purchased a parking spot on the Orange Zone in advance. When entering the Sofi Stadium from Yukon Ave., I was told to exit to get to the Orange Zone without clear direction. I asked different people who directed the traffic, and they each gave a different answer. It was frustrating & confusing.
THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN MICHELLE AND OPRAH WAS INFECTIOUS AND HEARTFELT LIKE BEST FRIENDS FOREVER. FREE-FLOWING CONVERSATION WAS VERY INFORMATIVE, HUMOROUS, AND ENTERTAINING THROUGHOUT; HOWEVER, I WANTED MORE CONVERSATION WHEN IT ENDED. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH EXCLAMATIONS ABOUT HOW WONDERFUL I FELT WHEN I LEFT WHILE FEELING I REALLY GOT MY $200.00 MONIES WORTH!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR CANDOR AND OPENNESS I REALLY LOVE YOU BOTH!!
Everything about the night was top notch! D-Nice spinning Club Quarantine, Oprah hosting, and Forever FLOTUS being open and witty. The merchandise was quality and food trucks were good. The seats were comfortable and the ushers were very helpful. If there had to be a negative it was the cold weather that rolled in and took everyone by surprise.
It was such an inspiring and uplifting event. Loved both Michelle & Oprah!! D-Nice got the crowd pumped!!!
What a surprise to find out that OPRAH was interviewing MICHELLE OBAMA. Two powerhouses and a great warm-up by DJ. Everything worked out smoothly (parking is always a beast when go to a big event) and super fun evening. Did not transfer tickets but put in wallet and went in with friends together.
Enjoyed every minute: from dj DNice starting the party; to the incredible banter and relatable honesty, between Michele and surprise moderator Oprah Winfrey. I am still smiling.
Both First Lady Michelle and Oprah were extremely down to earth and shared details of their lives that we could all relate to. It was very informative and the take always about our “lights” and “differences” will be applicable to our daily lives.
