Martin Lawrence on Tour
Martin Lawrence may always have a place in Hollywood movies and on TV screens, but it's clear where he feels most at home: on stage. That's where he truly gets to showcase a comedic sensibility that's raw, unpredictable, and totally unbridled. One of 2018's most hilarious comedy events, the LIT AF Tour is a testament to the prowess and energy that Lawrence has demonstrated as a stand-up ever since he first showed what he could do at The Improv, the legendary New York comedy club that launched Richard Pryor, Jerry Seinfeld, and countless other greats.
Pryor was a big hero for Lawrence as a young performer, who came to comedy and acting after displaying great promise as a boxer. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, on a U.S. army base, he grew up in several cities in the U.S. before moving to New York in the mid-1980s to break into comedy. His raucous sets soon led to a spot on ‘Star Search' and movies including ‘House Party' and ‘Do the Right Thing.' In 1992, Russell Simmons chose him to host ‘Def Comedy Jam,' the groundbreaking HBO series that fostered a new wave of black comedians. That same year, his sitcom ‘Martin' began its five-year run on Fox, becoming one of the network's highest rated shows.
He found just as much success on the big screen with hit comedies like ‘Nothing to Lose,' ‘Blue Streak,' and the ‘Big Momma's House' franchise. He'd also set new standards for mayhem in ‘Bad Boys' and ‘Bad Boys II,' his action-comedy blockbusters with Will Smith and director Michael Bay. Yet even during his rise to full-fledged movie stardom, he never left the stage for long. The concert films ‘You So Crazy' and ‘Martin Lawrence Live: Runteldat' proved he'd lost none of his edge as a stand-up act.
Two years after his successful headlining tour Doin' Time: Uncut Live, he returns to slay audiences all over again with the LIT AF Tour. This time, however, he's brought some friends. With Lawrence serving as host much like he did way back in the day on ‘Def Comedy Jam,' the LIT AF Tour presents an array of veteran and emerging talents. Changing from city to city, the lineup of acts includes Jay Pharaoh, J.B. Smoove, Adele Givens, Rickey Smiley, and Clayton Thomas. Of course, with Martin Lawrence around, you know who'll run the show no matter who's there.
Everyone was great. My cheeks were sore from laughing.
THE COMEDY SHOW WAS EXCELLENT!! EACH COMEDIAN WAS ON POINT AND CRAFTED IN THEIR SKILL.
Didn’t attend had a hard time canceling so tickets went to waste won’t order tickets thru here again lucky 1 star
I was disappointed that Martin Lawrence wasn’t the main event and that he was just a host
- Martin Lawerence was only the “host” and wished he would of been the main act. - B. Simone was my favorite act. She is extremely funny and needs her own Comedy special. - There was no traffic organization. The event staff ran it poorly. Too many overly aggressive cars, jam packed streets and not enough help to direct traffic. It was a huge mess. An embarrassment to the venue. - The event started shortly after 8pm and not on time at 7:30pm.
All of the comedians were hilarious. It was totally worth the money.,
I purchased this ticket thinking i was going to see a set by Martin I didn't realize he would just be a presenter. overall the women were better then the men and Donnell Rowling could have stayed home. I wouldn't go to another one.
Adele, Martin and Earthquake stole the show. Love them!
The actual event wasn’t bad but those seat are HORRIBLE the UIC or Credit union One Which ever u decide to call the joint Seats are extremely small even for a small person Please don’t have height & Hips u will be overly uncomfortable Like seriously was this place built in the 1940’s?
Everyone was HI-LARIOUS!!! It's rare to go to a comedy show and everyone is funny but this one was just that. Had a great time!
IT WAS AN AWESOME SHOW!!! EVERY COMEDIAN IS TALENTED & HILARIOUS!!!
The comedians were great the venue was ghetto as hell!! I was more worried about being robbed than anything! Very urban to say the least
The show itself was funny. I Loved it. The seats in the theatre however are too small and uncomfortable.
The arena was easily accessible and the show was phenomenal!!! Will definitely be back!
Minus all of the corroded bars and dust that built up on the bars at the top the show was great there is a big bar that blocks the screens if you sit in the bleachers so your best bet is to buy tickets on the ground if you want to see the screen or up close
Everyone was funny from start to finish.all these guys are heavy hitters, no one was better than the other, I mean just genuinely funny!!!!!!!
Omg! This performance was everything! I love Martin and i was so excited to see him and he did not dissappoint! My first time at that arena and it was nice. Epic night!
The seating for the venue was horrible! You pay $100+ for the floor seating and have cheap, skinny fold up chairs. The comedians were funny and worth the trip!
I went here for my birthday, and I enjoyed myself!!! I laughed from beginning to the very end!! All the comedians were hilarious!!! Loved this, and will go to any other show Martin gives!!! Well worth the money.
The whole show was hilarious, I laughed the whole time!
