  • I Saw it Twice!

by Alphabet on 8/16/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Great story with wonderful actresses who had fantastic voices and presence. Living in Chicago proper but sans car, it took 2 hrs to travel to Skokie via Metra and CTA each way! Well worth the time and expense. Especially glad I saw it again before it closed for Ms. Thomas' (Rosetta) understudy, Ms. Bias, performed the first time I saw it. Even though she has a wonderful voice ... it has yet to mature to the level and strength of Ms. Thomas' instrument. Ms. Roston, clearly trained in classical voice, has a phenomenal instrument I hope to hear again soon. Both of these performers deserve to be on Broadway! I hope another company picks them up soon. Thank you!

What an amazing way to take us through a cut of the phenomenal Rosetta Tharpe’s life. The emotion was palpable and voices were immaculate.

by Bman on 8/1/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I was three rows up from the stage and loved this proximity to the actors and set. Beautiful and talented musicians told a beautiful and heartfelt story. Highly recommend if you like gospel and rock.

  • A must see! Fabulous story actors and voices.

by Kallen on 7/29/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The story helped reveal unknown history to me and the relationship that developed between the characters was a great play. The actors were outstanding and I want to know if they were playing the piano or was it piped in? Clearly the guitar work was very real and amazing! I wanted to get up and move or chair dance but the audience was very stiff:-( wondering how that impacts the performers?

  • Fabulous!

by Will subscribe to Northlight on 7/25/23Rating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show. The acting was outstanding. The music was terrific. I had no idea how they would resolve the story and it was perfect. Just perfect. The actors were fantastic. Almost 2 hours of just the 2 of them on stage!

I have to give a Highly Recommend for "Marie and Rosetta"the two person show at Northlight. The actors / singer's talent will keep you mesmerized for the entire show and the story of Sister Rosetta Tharpe (The true founder of Rock Roll) is a must for those interested in music. Enjoy
