About
Luh Kel Live
One of the freshest and finest new talents in R&B, Luh Kel has a maturity and sensitivity that far exceed his years. When the teenage singer from St. Louis first performed "Wrong," the song served as a captivating expression of his vulnerability and vocal talents, and it blew up on Instagram and TikTok before being released as his debut single for Cinematic Music Group in April 2019. By June, it had amassed 22 million views on YouTube and 80 million streams and scored him his first appearance on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Luh Kel's momentum continued with "BRB," a midtempo jam that further demonstrated his depth and creativity, and "Pull Up," a song that gave him a chance to show his singing and rapping skills while riding a slinky groove that's instantly recognizable from Ne-Yo's "So Sick."
Released in November 2019, Luh Kel's official studio debut Mixed Emotions confirmed the potential he showed in his singles. Whether performing solo or alongside guests like PnB Rock ("Movie"), Jay Gwuapo ("Gone") and IV Jay ("Tweakin"), Luh Kel establishes himself as a next-generation talent who adds his own flavor to the styles and sounds he's absorbed from inspirations like Usher, Tank and Chris Brown. In the summer and fall 2019, Luh Kel performed on his first national tour as an opening act on Polo G's Die Like a Legend tour.
Luh Kel Background
Though Luh Kel released his debut album while still in high school in his hometown of St. Louis, the rising R&B artist got his start in music even earlier. The performer otherwise known as Turran Coleman showed his love for singing as a toddler. By his early teens, he was singing in competitions and polishing his skills as a member of the R&B group ProjecX.
Luh Kel's talents as a solo vocalist and MC began receiving wider attention when his videos as LifeWLuhKel took off on Instagram. A TikTok challenge for "Wrong" made the 16-year-old a sensation, leading to a deal with Cinematic Music Group. Released as his first official single in April 2019, "Wrong" amassed millions of streams and views and charted at No. 39 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list.
Luh Kel's rise continued with "BRB" and "Pull Up," two more showcases of his singing, rapping and individual style that boasts both sweetness and swagger. Released in November 2019, Luh Kel's debut album Mixed Emotions captures the wide range of his abilities in songs that include guest appearances by PnB Rock, Jay Gwuapo and IV Jay.
