An over hyped on stage tragedy
by Disappointed in Vegas on 4/23/24Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club - Las VegasAt first, I wasn't planning to leave a review, as they say, "if you can't say anything nice..."But I feel I must warn others: consider spending your money elsewhere. The venue itself is alright—small and cozy. However, the drinks are not good, and there are no restrooms inside; you have to go outside and down the promenade. Despite this, I thought, "That's fine. At least the show will be enjoyable!" The opening act was decent and got the crowd warmed up. I actually enjoyed him! But Luenell... oh, Luenell. There were a few brief funny moments, but overall, she struggled and I found it hard to stay engaged (and awake). Some in our group thought she might've been drunk. I'm far from conservative, but when you're a professional and are entertaining the public, you might only consider drinking if you're a full functioning alcoholic, and not get sloshy just because you think it helps the routine... it doesn't. Everyone has off nights, and maybe this was one for Luenell, but the disappointment is everlasting. I wouldn't spend $400 again (the cost for our small group) on such an experience. I will acknowledge that some in the audience were laughing and having a good time. Perhaps they were also tipsy, or maybe the humor was just not my taste, appealing more to those who think a rubber chicken routine is comedy gold amusing. Overall, while the venue had potential and the opening act was enjoyable, Luenell's performance fell short of expectations and left much to be desired. We won't be returning for another show.
