Lucky Louie Blues Co. was formed in New Paltz, NY in 2017 by Ross Mandel. We started as two guitarists, but personal tragedy struck our second guitarist, prompting him to leave the group. WIth shows on the calendar, Ross had to act fast. He invited Lorne Montague to come play bass, and Miguel Vazquez to hop on the drum-kit. We played our first show without rehearsing and it was magic. Since that night in New Paltz, we locked down multiple residencies and recorded the Waiting EP in a room above a deli. We also began working with Study Music Group, an indie label based in California. Following graduation, Ross moved towards NYC and met Doug Grean, a multi-platinum producer/engineer for Scott Weiland, Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, Sheryl Crow and many more. They began working on an album and needed a little help from some friends to really make the music pop. We brought in Tori Ciarcia to assist with vocal duties and Ben Schmitz to add some funky Weir-esque rhythm guitar. The album is finished and is set to be released very soon. Inspired by psych-rock icons such as Grateful Dead, Sublime and Hendrix, our live shows consist of heavy improvisations that can fill any room.
I haven’t been going out since COVID but I braved the pandemic for this and boy am I glad I did!! The show was outstanding!! They did a rendition of Breath that was amazing!! So glad I went. Can’t wait to see them again!!
