About

Lucky Daye on Tour

Off the heels of his hit album Candydrip, New Orleans singer/songwriter Lucky Daye is hitting the road across the United States for the 2022 Candydrip Tour. Daye's style blurs the lines between contemporary sub-genres within R&B with hints of soul and funk and influences from genre giants like Miss Lauryn Hill, Prince and Stevie Wonder. In 2019, Lucky Daye released his debut 13-track studio album titled Painted which garnered critical praise, leading to four Grammy nominations at the 63rd Grammy Awards including Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album. As a result of the positive momentum, Lucky Daye opened for Khalid on his Free Spirit Tour in Australia and New Zealand. Daye is praised by concertgoers for his intimate stage presence, putting his heart and soul into live performances.

Lucky Daye in Concert

Born on September 25, 1985, David Debrandon Brown is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and you can feel the southern, soulful influence in his records. Despite navigatings a series of tumultuous events in his youth like being raised in a local cult that forbade conventional music and being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Daye re-established himself in Atlanta, Georgia where he now resides. His first peek into the spotlight came in 2005, when he competed in Season 4 of "American Idol". He received unanimous praise from the four judges and Randy Jackson called it the best performance he had heard "since we have been doing this for four seasons." Shortly after being eliminated from American Idol, Daye's career evolved into both a songwriter and supporting vocalist over the next 10 years. He received credits with hit artists like Ne-Yo, Boyz II Men, Trey Songz and Mary J. Blige. Daye's solo career blossomed in October 2018 when he signed to Keep Cool and RCA Records. Shortly thereafter, he released his first single, the Grammy-nominated "Roll Some Mo." That and "Real Games" were the leading singles on Painted (2020). He followed that up with the Grammy-nominated EP Two of a Kind (2021), which features an intro and six duets with the likes of Ari Lennox and Yebba. Candydrip released in March of 2022 and features guest appearances from Smino and Lil Durk.

Saw him in DC at the Fillmore, entire set was nonstop fiery passion. He’s incredible live, quite possibly one of the best performances I’ve ever experienced.

    A Music Lover's Dream

    by Derby on 7/16/22

First time at the Mercury. Pleasantly surprised at the space. The meet and greet was organized and ran smoothly. He’s a humbled soul and it’s nice to see. The show started on time. However, I do recommend purchasing VIP and sitting up top for a better view. I purchased a VIP ticket in Dec '21 for an Apr '22 show, but chose to stand on the floor in GA. Never again and I truly regret it. I was looking forward to seeing his opening act, Joyce Wrice. She worked the stage; her DJ kept the crowd engaged and her dancers were phenomenal. Definitely grab/download her project Overgrown. Lucky is the only artist I’d rather hear live than recorded. Our show in Louisville was the week he won the Grammy. I was low key hoping he would cancel ours, because I didn't want to hear a horse, "watered down" version of the voice I waited so long to hear live. I could tell he didn't have his full range, but most of the audience was just LOOKING at the beautiful man God created than LISTENING to him. The set list was nice. He played guitar along with the band on Feels Like. I feel he held back preserving his voice on a couple of songs (Love You Too Much, Floods). It was cool to hear him do Bag (a collab with Coltrane-you need to check him out for sure) and Good & Plenty (remix of Alex Isley’s tune). His breakout song Roll Some Mo' was not long enough, to my liking. He performed almost every song from the Candy Drip LP and more. I was so looking forward to hearing my favorite, Cherry Forest, but it was a no go ☹. His band.........WOW is all I can say. They are freaking indescribable. I wished Kenji would have been on tour with him but he's not a part of the clergy. You talking about give the drummer some, I wanted to jump on stage, make it rain and give Q, Airin and Chris a hug by the end of the night. Overall, it was a fantastic show. This was truly a music lover’s dream show IMO. He is touring in Europe this Fall. Yes, it’s worth going. I may even see you there 😉.

    Disappointing

by Mackenzie on 6/22/22713 Music Hall - Houston

My experience at 713 Music Hall was not what I expected it was very chaotic. The show started late and had many technical issues throughout the evening. At one point the fire alarm went off and due to mic issues the crowd wasn't aware of what was going on. There was times when the sound would cut out during performances and there was also at least 4 unexpected acts. We waited at least 2 hours for Lucky Daye to grace the stage but due to no available mic and timing he was not able to go on leaving the audience very disappointed. I was there until 7:00 pm to about 1:56 am On the bright side Chrisette Michele & Wale put on wonderful show!

DEFINITELY THE WORST CONCER EXPERIENCE I EVER ATTENDED

by Jay M on 6/22/22713 Music Hall - Houston

I am actually in the process of requesting a refund due to how horrible this concert and venue was when it came to the Lucky Daye Concert! The venue was nice and I was excited about being able to see a concert at this venue for the first time but I was extremely disappointed by the end of the night! The mic and sound kept messing up throughout the whole concert and the performers before Lucky Daye were upset about the sound and mic as well plus the main performers didn't hit the stage till after 12am, mind you the concert started at 8:30pm. By the time Lucky Daye finally arrived, which was after 1am, he was upset and left the stage due to the mic and sound not working. This is extremely unacceptable as we all paid a lot of money to see this artist perform and waited till almost 2am, which by this time half the audience left, just to not see him perform at all and no one from the venue updated us on what was going on. I am extremely annoyed that I paid for a performer and didn't see them. They definitely owe us our money back and apology. I am a big concert buff and go to concert all the times but this was the worst one I EVER experinced.

Horrible the music hall was so unprofessional

by Ale on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The Person I paid to see did not even preform, they kept having technical difficulties and the mics would cut off in the middle of a song and they would have long entertainment in between preferences, and they treated this concrete as if it was a festival for new artists
