    Good Overall

by E.True on 1/14/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

Loved the storyline that dug into family secrets that relate to the fact that we all have family secrets that we’d rather not be told. Mills was fantastic. Wilhelmina was phenomenal. And Wilhelmina’s biological mom reminds every African american child of their loving but stern grandmother who always does what she has to for the sake of her family. The cast seem to gel well together and it showed. The musical talents (especially Mills) were exceptionally tasteful. Loved that you used a local college choir; involving the city that you’re in is always a plus in my book - we like to see our own people. Things to work on: transitioning from scene to scene made me tired! Get a revolving stage with a better stage set that allows you to get rid of debris (if necessary) from scene to scene. The show started a tad bit late, not exactly at 7:30. These were the only reasons I gave 4 vs 5 stars.

    Amazing

Absolutely amazing production. Not a bad seat in this Music Hall. The actresses are Broadway ready. The singing was outstanding. What a storyline.

    Love and Southern Discomfort Captivates!

by Sandy M on 1/14/20The Charleston Music Hall - Charleston

From the first scene to the last, the phenomenally talented cast pulls you in! The music is exceptional, and the band BlackNoyze is as much a part of the play as the actors. The story of a wealthy yet broken Southern family capitvates. The heartbreaking tale of addiction and mental illness brings hope at the end. Bravo!!
