BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Langhorne Slim, born Sean Scolnick, always knew he had a passion for playing music and writing songs. After honing his craft, he earned his big break in 1999 touring in the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players. He made his solo debut in 2004 with the full-length album Electric Love Letter, supporting the release with numerous live shows around his native Pennsylvania. Slim reached widespread acclaim with his follow-up EP Engine, and his performance of the album track “Restless” on the Late Show with David Letterman exposed his music to thousands of new fans nationwide. Appearances at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Festival soon followed, and his electrifying performances continued to grow his devoted fanbase. Since then Slim has released three more highly acclaimed records including 2012’s The Way We Move, been praised by major publications like Rolling Stone magazine and The Guardian, and toured with major acts like Cake, the Avett Brothers, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.A unique talent in country and folk, the rising star continues to earn hundreds of thousands of new fans while touring alongside his band the Law.
This was such an incredible show. The venue is small and intimate, but such a nice space. The opener, Johnny Fritz, was not an artist I knew ahead of time, but he was such a fun surprise. Both Johnny Frist and Langhorne Slim were such wonderful entertainers. Very interactive with the crowd, and a perfect combination of story telling, conversation, and playing. Loved the whole experience.
We came to this venue to see Sawyer Fredericks, who opened for Langhorne Slim & The Law. It was great to see Sawyer live at this venue, and it was a pleasure to discover this new band, Langhorne Slim & The Law. They're not a new band, but they're new to me. The concert was great and this band was wonderful. Terrific vocals, stage presence, and audience interaction. Additionally, The Teragram Ballroom has invested in terrific acoustics and the sound was awesome. I'm glad to have found a new band to listen to, and I look forward to seeing them again in concert when they return. For Cayamo people out there, I learned that Langhorne Slim is one of the artists booked on the 2016 cruise.... lucky people :)
They leave their heart, soul, and sweat on that stage each time! The opener Sawyer Fredericks was a great fit and I really enjoyed their duet. It was first time at Teragram Ballroom and I was impressed! Clean, ample bathrooms, good bar, friendly staff, and best of all the sound was perfect! I could understand the lyrics and even though there was plenty of volume, my ears weren't ringing at the end of the night! Instead the show left me fully charged, exactly what Langhorne Slim is meant to do!
An amazing performance. Emotional, raw, and great sound. Their live performance is so much better than the record, and the record is great! Tells stories, makes you feel the song, and connect with the artist. Really engages the song and has a great mix of slow emotional songs, and foot stomping songs that get you dancing! Can't say enough great things.
The Bearsville theatre is a fantastic rural venue on a river with beautiful grounds. The bar service was pleasant, an the small, intimate venue area was clean. The energy at the concert was amazing with brain smashing fast songs and swaying, peaceful slower songs. Slim was constantly interacting with the crowd. He even started a story with terminated in a man in the audience proposing to his girlfriend. A fantastic show.
