About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dead & Company’s summer tour runs from May 31st to July 6th.

    Bring Back the Fan Club

by JM Fan on 11/11/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

I have been a JM Fan for over 20 years and this was my 58th concert. I loved that it felt like the old days of intimate shows, but with a much larger catalog. What I really miss are the fan club days. It wasn't just about access to presale tickets (when you could get in the second row for $79), but the camaraderie. I paid $750 to be a VIP (which is so lame--who cares about a plastic lanyard). I cared about the seat location, not the "status". But there are now a bunch of middle-age wives who drag their husbands to these shows and can apparently afford to pay that much money for something they don't really care about. The guy in front of me was on his phone the whole time checking sports scores. In the third row center! Bring back the fan club, so I can sit by the real fans.

    John Mayer LIVE never disappoints!

by JT on 11/10/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

Such an amazing and unique show! I've seen Mayer 8-9 times at this point and this SOLO tour was really special. It was wild how a concert in a stadium venue could feels so intimate - it honestly felt like John was playing for a few thousand people in his living room. Just a man and his guitar - Mayer's incredible talent really shined through here!

    Background music

by Amestheboxer on 11/10/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

I think it had more to do with the venue, and the soundboard, but it just wasn’t loud enough. I didn’t feel like a concert. It felt like background music.

The show was absolutely amazing. It’s only him and lots of guitars. Nothing is too much yet is so good and intimate. Would go thousands more times

    Mayer Magic

by Cyndanyia11 on 11/10/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

John Mayer is an exceptional musician, often overlooked as a prolific songwriter, musician and all around great human. Love his shows. He reaches beyond the stage to connect and engage in ways many other artists do not. We are always fully entertained and always happy after a John Mayer performance. We feel like we truly got what we came for and more. Thank you John!

    Great show by John Mayer

by TB on 11/10/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

I was completely blown away by John Mayer. Very disappointed in the outrageous prices for a drink. 25.00 for a mixed drink, watered down at that and 8.00 for a bottle of water! Shame on the venue and otter rip off.

    Obstructed view

by Robbie on 11/10/23Chase Center - SAN FRANCISCO

John put on an AMAZING show. Phenomenal performance. I can’t rave enough. But the tickets I bought were not labeled obstructed view but they were. That was a huge disappointment. The venue should have properly advised that the disabled seating blocked the view of the stage. And I fell entering the row of seats as the woman on the aisle had mobility issues and would not move out of the way to let me into the row. I then fell on top of the people in the row below. It is not safe to get in and out of the row. I was lucky to not go over the side.

    Very Talented

by LL34 on 11/9/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

I have waited a LONG time to finally see John Mayer in concert. He is super talented and was very personable with the audience. My only complaint was that he barely played any of his most popular songs. Which he recognized and mentioned twice during the show, but then continued to play songs mostly unfamiliar to the majority of the audience. For me the fun of going to a concert is to be able to sing your favorite songs along with the artist. Whenever he sang his well known stuff, the energy in the audience was amazing. But because he kept playing lesser known material, the audience was pretty subdued most of the time. So although I enjoy his music a lot I was disappointed. He spent the majority of his time on his more obscure music and I was hoping he'd do just the opposite. But other people that love him and have seen him before probably enjoyed hearing something fresh. So I'm sure it's just perspective.

John Mayer gave us this unique, amazing, concert !

by Emmj on 11/8/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

This concert was on a Sunday night in the Delta center. Located in SLC, Utah. This concert was so incredible! The feel of it was like we were all just sitting in our house’s listening to a great friend play his beautiful music. We were just mesmerized!!! The feeling was awesome! When he left the stage, before he came out for encore. Everyone just went crazy they all wanted more. Don’t miss an opportunity to hear John play acoustic it’s the best! As for the seating arrangements. The floor seats were folding chairs that they had hooked together. They were so close that if you were tall or wider than 12 inches you were on top of the person next to you. It really sucked! For the price I paid the seats should be a lot better. It’s so uncomfortable for 3-4 hours.

    Unforgettable concert!

by Michelle on 11/8/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

This has to be one of my all-time favorite concerts! John Mayer is a fantastic artist, such a talented musician. His ability to play requests from the audience, solo, on stage for hours, was the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen. The sound level was perfect, I didn’t even need my ear plugs for this one. Nice venue, easy in and out since we were staying downtown and a friendly crowd!

    INCREDIBLE SOLO TOUR!

by RobG on 11/8/23Delta Center - Salt Lake City

One of the most interesting and fun concerts I’ve ever been to. It felt big and yet, small and intimate at the same time. JP Saxe was amazing and John Mayer was incredible! Loved every minute of it.

    Solo Tour of the century

by LG on 11/8/23Moody Center ATX - Austin

John may not be done changing, but he’s already the very best. This concert was no exception. There wasn’t a bad seat in the house! I’ll go back for every tour for as long as he keeps making music and recreating it with each performance.

What can I say? It was John Mayer and he is absolutely incredible. His acoustic version of each of his songs were so unique and sounded great. He was funny and witty. HE SURPRISED US WITH EVERYWHERE BY FLEETWOOD MAC. Thanks for the amazing night, John!
