Jimmy Buffett on Tour

Jimmy Buffett is the tropical musician, songwriter and author known for "Margaritaville." Core groups of devoted fans known as Parrotheads follow him religiously. Jimmy's live concerts are soul-satisfying events, with many performed for charity. Jimmy, along with Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney, played a benefit concert for hurricane victims in Florida on November 19, 2017. Jimmy Buffett's biggest hits are "Margaritaville," "Changes in Latitude" and "Come Monday." Aside from his music, he is the author of three New York Times bestselling novels and a serial businessman with a large chain of restaurants, as well as minor league baseball teams, hotels and casinos, and officially licensed products of many types. In 2003, he won an award from the Academy of Country Music for his duet with Alan Jackson on "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere." Of his more than 30 albums released, eight are Gold and nine are Platinum or Multi-Platinum albums.

Jimmy Buffett in Concert

Jimmy Buffett Background Jimmy Buffett was born on Christmas Day, 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, getting involved in the band at a young age and picking up the guitar during college. Influenced by his grandfather, who was a sailor, and by country music while working for Billboard Magazine in Nashville, Jimmy tried to break into music in Nashville, but his sound did not mesh with the brand of country music popular in the 1970s. Jimmy then went to Key West and found his calling: good-time island music sometimes called "gulf and western." Jimmy honed his easygoing beach bum persona playing for drinks at the Chart Room Bar in Key West's Pier House Motel. When Jim Croce died unexpectedly in 1973, ABC/Dunhill Records called Jimmy to fill the void. He released albums regularly: 1973's A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean; two in 1974, Living & Dying in 3/4 Time and A1A; followed by Havana Daydreamin' in 1976. His breakout album was 1977's Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, which included the hit song "Margaritaville." Today, Jimmy is a major influence in both music and philanthropy. He often performs high-value benefit concerts for victims of natural disasters. Jimmy and Jason get 5 stars, 2 stars for accommodations

    by C. E. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Jason Mraz and Jimmy Buffet were amazing. We had floor seats and had a blast. But the negatives played heavily against the good stuff. First, we got into a line to the East side of the stadium because we had floor seats and no one bothered to tell us that we needed to get into a second line for wrist bands. Ugh, so back in line for about half an hour to get those. No bathroom accommodations on the floor level and when you had to go you could only go to the north end of the stadium and climb a 100 stairs to get to the concourse which made it very inconvenient for food/drinks and most important the bathroom. Not cool! It took over half an hour to get drinks when Jason Mraz performed so I missed the majority of his performance. I was pretty ticked off about that. Snapdragon, please figure this stuff out so your patrons can enjoy a show!

    Like an old friend

by CaliGirl on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Jimmy never disappoints. He spent extra time with the audience and seemed genuinely happy to be in San Diego. He and the Coral Reefer Band sounded great!!!

    Buffett 2023

by Eddy on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Parking lot experience was excellent. Jason and Jimmy were spot on with music! The large screen that was put at the rear of the field seats for us sitting in the seats above in the 100 section. Had strobe lights on the top the were way to bright and really took away any chance of seeing anything. Hoping this gets corrected before the next concert at SnapDragon

Great concert... BUT stadium was NOT handicapped friendly

    by M. S. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

As usual (I've been to many before) the concert by Jimmy was great. However a few negatives about the experience: $50 for parking one vehicle was outrageous! Also we parked in the "accessible" (handicapped) parking and it was FAR FROM ACCESSIBLE to the entrance with our tickets. There was an entrance across the street from this "green" parking lot, but when we got there, we were told our entrance (as we had tickets on the field) were on the opposite side, a VERY LONG walk for those with disabilities. We were told there was a golf cart driver who could help but we, along with others that were in wheelchairs waited and waited and one never showed up. Later we were told the people at the entrance could have called one up for us, but they didn't seem to know this. THIS needs to be changed. Then once we finally made our way to the correct entrance, again we had to walk down all the stairs from mid level stadium to the field and were told no elevator available. Later we were told the elevator for handicapped people was on other side of stadium. There has to be a better way!

    Music was great but..

by Johnny on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Parking was $50! Crazy expensive. A glass of water was $5. You are prohibited from bringing your own bottle even if it is sealed. Line everywhere which made it difficult to get to our seats. Bathrooms were running short on toilet paper. We were in Section 141 and people passed by constantly down to the floor. There should be more ways to get there. In addition, people cut through our aisle to get to the stairs down to the floor. We sat on the aisle and it was a miserable experience. We left early and didn't stay for the last 45 mins of the show, which was about half way through. On a positive note, the sound was good, the musicians were good. The trolley was affordable and convenient, but packed on our ride to the stadium.

    Too much time in lines

by Julia on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The show itself was amazing. I would go see Jimmy Buffet again but this venue needs to work on a few things. Even arriving more than 2 hours early we barely made it to our seats for the show. The system for entrance and getting wristbands for floor seats was wildly inefficient. The line for concessions took over 40 minutes and they were sold out of bottled water.

    Great entertainment

by Bill on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

I'm not a big fan of mega-concerts, but Snapdragon was okay. The seats are a little hard and the venue feels a little crowded. However, the venue was fine and the entertainment was terrific. There is a reason why Jimmy Buffett is one of the most successful acts around. One of his lines was something like, "Thanks for being here. I hope you had a chance to enjoy some of your favorite songs." - and I did. So did my daughter and grandson. The music can be appreciated by all ages. The first act, Mac McAnally, was excellent - a fine musician, exceptional guitar player, and very funny. Jason M. was also very good. Jimmy was friendly, shared the stage with other performers very well, and played many of his finest tunes. In a big venue you have to rely on the gigantic TV screens to see any close-ups, bu they did a great job of covering the action. The video shows behind the band were right in line with the music and eye-catching. Overall, I was positively surprised at how good things were and I totally enjoyed the concert. Way to go, Jimmy & company!

The worst concert ever. Boooo to Snapdragon Arena.

by TJ on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Everything from the wrong seats. Late performance so it shortened the length of each performance by a half hour to keep Snapdragons curfew of 11 PM. Trying to get tickets if one person purchased them was a nightmare. The system crashed so they let everyone in without showing tickets. Great if you bought nose bleeds for $35 but after paying $1700 for each ticket didn't sit right. The person next to me didn't but tickets because he was a season ticket holder for the stadium. We paid for floor seating two rows fro the stage and ended up to the far left of the stage. Horrible seats. There is not enough space to finish everything that was bad at this event. Never again ticket master!

    Review of Jimmy Buffet Concert

    by N. D. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The concert was fantastic, but there was mass confusion when Ticketmaster sent out e-mails indicating that the concert was canceled or rescheduled, when it was still taking place! I sent e-mails to Ticketmaster and the Snapdragon Stadium to actually get confirmation that the event was still taking place. Finally just a few days prior to the concert, Ticketmaster sent out a corrected e-mail stating that the concert was still happening and they apologized for any inconvenience, but this could have been a major disaster if so many of the recipients of the first e-mail did not attend the concert because they thought it had been canceled!

    Jimmy Snapdragon Review

by Paul R on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Venue was awesome, getting in and out of parking and venue was a breeze 100 times better than Sofi which is a nightmare. Venue was new, clean, not tagged yet and all elements were shiny and new. Show was also awesome with Mac starting the show, then Jason Mraz putting on his stuff, his guitarist Dr. Molly was LIT. Jimmy himself put on a great show with oldies but goodies and sprinkling the local mentions as he does during his shows. This was my first JB in maybe 10 years and it felt so good to be back, one peaceful easy feeling at his shows. Hope he come to Irivne in 2023 when the weather is a bit warmer.

    Great Concert/Bad Venue

by Dani on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Jimmy Buffet is always amazing. Super good party. Lots of fun. Could not bring in water, as stated in pre-concert info. No Margaritas after waiting in line over an hour. Poor planning! How can you run out of Margaritas at a Jimmy Buffet concert? So, not cool.

    High price, low quality.

by L.G. on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The new venue at Snapdragon stadium was not ready for the volume of people who attended. The crowd was somewhat unruly and stood (on the floor) for most of the performance. Considering the average age of the audience was above 60, it was a real drag. This is the last in-person event for me.

    Absolute Blast!!!

by Diana B on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

Fist time to FINALLY have the Jimmy Buffet experience and was worth the wait! Snapdragon Arena was perfect venue for him - not too small, not too large. He sounded great, just as he always has, and the party atmosphere he created years ago was still alive and well! Everyone should experience Jimmy Buffet at least once … an absolute talent and tons of fun!!!!

    Obstructed View Seats

by Wattsy on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

We are Aztec Football Season ticket holders. We had seats in section 138 row 13 which should have been center of the stage but for some reason they put a screen that blocked the view of the stage. NO WHERE did Snapdragon or Ticketmaster say these were obstructed view seats. Definitely will not sit there again and get ripped off!

Outstanding Concert and trip to San Diego from San Antonio

by Mississippi born Parrothead from San Antonio on 5/9/23Snapdragon Stadium - San Diego

The incredible Mac McAnally opened the show which was amazing. Jimmy came out and introduced Mac as the 10 time CMA winner, a record. Jason Mraz then performed and had the stadium rocking. Then Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers came out to a crowded stadium and blew everyone away as usual. I first saw Mac in college 45 years ago for free twice on campus. I first saw Jimmy at the same university a year later in Starkville. Both were outstanding then and are much better if that’s possible NOW! I have seen them so many times, I have lost count. Do yourself a favor and go see them!! From an old Mississippian.
