About

More than two decades into their career, acid jazz artists Jamiroquai, led by ageless frontman Jay Kay, prove themselves as timeless as funk itself as they blend old hits with new and rock it out on their latest swing, 2013's Magic Summer Live tour. Tickets are like a timewarp to the past and space-age future as Jamiroquai treat concertgoers to their high-energy funk grooves that recall their '90s youth, while at the same time, referencing the spacey themes that have been a mainstay in such hits as "Space Cowboy" and "Cosmic Girl." Accentuating the futuristic tone is a laser light show and giant planets hanging over the stage. At the center of it is Kay himself, out-dancing everyone in the house and delivering Jamiroquai's signature hits, often with fresh arrangements, making the familiar as new and relevant as ever. Not to let their previous catalog be the last word, Jamiroquai have begun recording their 8th album, which is slated for a 2014/2015 release.

Jamiroquai got its start in the brain of Jay Kay (he named the band and recruited its members) and debuted in 1993 with the album, "Emergency on Planet Earth." They followed up with an even more successful sophomore effort before hitting it massively big with 1996's "Travelling Without Moving" and its US breakout single, "Virtual Insanity." Since then, they've released four more albums, evolved and changed lineups, but the one constant besides Kay has always remained — their signature Buffalo Man logo, drawn up by Kay, that has graced most of their album covers since the beginning. It's one more example that shows some things may change, but the groove remains timeless.

    A one in a life time chance to see Jamiroquai!!

    by JoeyBadaBing on 5/2/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

    From the moment we arrived outside the auditorium, until we landed in our seats in the upper level, the experience was perfect! The queue line for the concert was organized and everyone was respectful. When we got close to the entrance, the security staff was alert and knew how to make the line move efficiently. They were friendly and courteous. It was nice to be at a venue where you didn't have to wait in long lines for drinks, bathrooms, etc. It was very well staffed and it was noticeable. Our seats in the balcony were great!! We're glad we were able to get them and not have to be on the floor with not way out for the length of the concert. We were able to dance, move about, go to the bathroom and even get more beer when we wanted to. For that size room and the acoustics, I think the sound engineer did a great job and I was very please with what I heard and saw on stage. BRAVO!!!

    Jamiroquai = Excellence

    by JamiroquaiFan on 4/27/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

    I had been waiting almost 25 years to see them live. It was indeed a memorable experience. Even though it was a sold out concert, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium was a great location. I'm not much of a fan involving those large amphitheater settings, especially when your seats are in the back part outside the roof area or on the lawn (blah). My wife and I sat up in the upper portion and never felt crowded. The floor was packed, but it didn't look as though folks were miserable or crammed in like sardines. If you ever get a chance to see Jamiroquai live, do it. It's definitely worth the admission!!!

    He sounds amazing!

    by AJKayFan on 4/26/18Bill GRaham - San Francisco

    They have always been on my wish list and I was so pleased when they finally came stateside. Took my 25 year old niece who also loved it. Sold out crowd was happy and dancing for more than 2 hours. Jay Kay sounds just like he always has, spot on. Band was tight, no missteps. We sat in the loge and would have liked to have seen him on a large screen. I was also waiting for "Seven Days in Sunny June" and "Half a Man" but it wasn't a night for his slower tunes. Would see him again in a heart beat.

    Jamiroquai.....PERFECTION!

    by PearlX2 on 4/23/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

    The SF show last Tuesday was hands down one of the best nights of my life! I've been waiting 23 years to see them. Jay Kay and the band absolutely blew my mind. I've raised my 14 year old daughter on this music and we had an amazing experience together at this show! 2 1/2 hours of dancing, smiles and good times. Perfect night! Just wish they played in the states more often.

    Awesome show and great crowd. Venue was sold out, but it wasn't overcrowded. Had plenty of room to dance and enjoy the show from the floor.

    All filler no chaser

    by Anonymous on 4/22/18Bill Graham Civic Auditorium - San Francisco

    This was definitely a show for the long enduring fans of Jamiroquai. They did not disappoint! After warming up with Shake It On, they seamlessly transitioned through a playlist including all of the albums. No fillers or downtime. There was great energy from both the crowd and band that created an unforgettable experience. Despite a long line and sellout crowd we made it in quickly and had spots near the front of the stage. Friendly helpful staff in a great venue with good acoustics. I think this show is a teaser for a full US Jamiroquai tour.
