About

Jacqueline Hackett is a 22-year old, New York-based singer/songwriter and college dropout. Exploring themes of love, loss, death and religion through a nostalgic lense, she connects to her audience through unfiltered lyricism and acute moments of vulnerability.

Her father was a hair-metal-guitar-playing music enthusiast and her mother, a poet. It was through this confluence that she was introduced to an array of artists at a young age and her budding interest in storytelling was ignited. During high school, she was a shining theater kid that also performed her own songs in and around her native New Jersey. Later, during her two-year stint at college where she studied journalism, she noticed her nagging passion for music and decided to devote herself completely to it. By day, Hackett is a barista in the heart of the Chelsea neighborhood while honing in on her craft off-time. A newbie to the city’s DIY scene, she’s been frequent to eclectic venues such as underground theaters in the East Village to church basements where her music wasn’t always up for appraisal.

In March 2021, Hackett released her debut single produced by Quinn Devlin, “The Rest of the World Could See.” The song is a slow-burning testament to the all-encompassing feeling of being haunted by the past, when trying to forget someone only makes the memories come back in full force and soon, you are reminded of the past in almost everything around you. OnesToWatch writes, “The lyrical story cuts deep through the heavy emotional and instrumental haze, allowing listeners to soak in the expansive scope of sounds she and her backing band produce.”

Hackett’s debut EP, As the Summer Let You Down, is set to be released later this year.
